Yes as an Italian myself I did find her accent bit more Russian/Eastern European sounding than typical Italian, but I'm here for it regardless.

She’s a descendant of Italy, she has the right to rescue and honor the history of her land and her roots.

It's not really the same thing.... however, the criticism isn't really happening yet, just few comments here and there.

Her family came from that country, it's a tribute and cultural rescue, she has this right, also, the accent is not done in a pejorative way, but with the aim of enriching the actors' interpretation in the film and bringing more credibility to the project, it'd be impossible to shoot the movie without this phonetic feature.
