Firstly the film did NOT seem to be 3 hours long!? For me, it flowed brilliantly and gradually built up the tension while offering a realistic portrayel of the love between the two Guccis and their eventual downfall. If anything, I'd say the ending was too rushed - the

hitmen were introduced almost instantly and then a few scenes later the deed was done

.

Gaga's performance, as everyone has said, was sheer perfection. Her gradual transformation from the doting, loving Patrizia Reggiani to the frenzied Patrizia Gucci was done with such believability and earnestness. There were moments throughout where you could see her becoming more power-hungry, but she never once strayed from being a totally loving woman to the man of her dreams. When she eventually snapped, I weirdly still did not detest her or think she was inhumane - it came from a place of failed love and the pain that comes with that. The scene towards the end when she

walked into the Gucci house, and asked Maurizio Gucci's mistress to leave was SO ICONIC. The crying, the hug and then barging past her and demanding she "left her house" was nothing short of genius - I squealed!

Away from Gaga's performance, the fashion of the film was the next highlight. The outfits were so full of character and really added to the high-profile world of the empire that we all know today. Driver was brilliant as was Al Pacino (but when isn't he?).

My only gripe was... Jared Leto's character. I did not understand the character of Paolo at all. Was he supposed to offer comic relief? Because it was not funny. Was he supposed to be a buffoon, because it just seemed like a totally unbelievable charicature with no depth. I actually cringed when he was on screen for most of the part and he detracted from an otherwise superb set of characters that seemed so real and grounded.

That aside, I thoroughly enjoyed the film. It was a journey and insight into a world and story I was not aware of previously - but what a rollercoaster it was. Gaga's gradual transformation was genius - I am the proudest of fans right now. She nailed it.

Yess!!! I agree Leto's Paolo is a choice... I think it also demonstrates the satirical aspect but it should've been more subtle for the movie purposes. He did have some great one liners though.
Also, NOT even some LMs saying it's a flop... :gaga: reaching the own production budget in 2 weeks is huge feat and it'll easily cross 150 million if the world doesn't go into full lockdown in January.
