May 15, 20205 yr Not surprised to see The Streets C-Listed still prob be a three weeker and out. That must extend Van Heiden to over 20 years in the playlist now? 'You Don't Know Me' was 1999 and he had some minor hits in 1997. It's interesting how dance acts can have a long history in the playlist due to the way the release their music so it's not conventional 4 singles and an album artist. Brings back the old age debate again which isn't always great on BJ. I'd certainly think his remix of "Professional Widow" that went to #1 in early 1997 would've been Radio 1 playlisted. Sure I remember hearing it loads as a kid!
May 15, 20205 yr Very nice surprise to see Bicep added! Alfie Templeman, Niall Horan and YUNGBLUD (only for this song xx) all good additions too, also happy to see DaBaby, Nothing But Thieves, Disclosure and Tyler, The Creator moving up.

I didn't realise his remix of the Tori Amos hit was the main song they played. It must have helped him a bit as his first two hits followed later that year with 'The Funk Phenomena' & 'Ultrafunkula' at 38 & 46 respectively.
May 15, 20205 yr Author At 50 years old, Armand Van Helden must be one of the oldest people they've had on the playlist, at least as lead artist. Although he's not older than David Guetta, who was 51 when he was playlisted last year with 'Thing For You'. I wonder if Guetta will make the playlist this year at 52?
May 16, 20205 yr Pat Smear of Foo Fighters was 58 when "The Sky is a Neighbourhood" was playlisted! Though or course that's part of a band.
May 16, 20205 yr Are we including featured artists? If we are then it’s probably Mavis Staples who was in her 70s when she was playlisted on Hozier’s song a few years ago!
May 16, 20205 yr Author ^ Both good shouts. Had no idea Mavis Staples was that old and I forgot the Foo Fighters are in their 50s! Their days of R1 support are surely numbered now. Edited May 16, 20205 yr by M4NGO
May 17, 20205 yr I wish they'd put the new Hurts single on the playlist - Voices. It's a banging tune!
May 18, 20205 yr ^ Both good shouts. Had no idea Mavis Staples was that old and I forgot the Foo Fighters are in their 50s! Their days of R1 support are surely numbered now. I can only see the Foo Fighters being put into 6 Music so it's hard to say. Paul McCartney was on Kanye/Rihanna's song in 2015 but again as a featured artist.
May 18, 20205 yr with the recent BBC R1 charity single covering Foo Fighters - Times like this it would be fitting if they keep supporting them, at least for another era
May 18, 20205 yr I can only see the Foo Fighters being put into 6 Music so it's hard to say. Paul McCartney was on Kanye/Rihanna's song in 2015 but again as a featured artist. I can see FF at least being on the Radio 2 playlist. And on 'FourFiveSeconds' all the artists have a lead credit! So I imagine Paul must be the oldest lead to have been playlisted.
