Posted May 28, 20205 yr Intrigued! He’s never released with Defected before as far as I’m aware. I’m hoping it’s not a remix for someone else.
May 28, 20205 yr Author Surprisingly a lot of dance acts must strike deals with Defected to have releases with them alongside their usual label work. He has only just done a live stream for them as Love Regenerator so it wouldn’t surprise me if it’s one of those releases and probably it’s going to end up being Don’t Stop, but we’ll see
May 28, 20205 yr FYI, it's Adam's single, not a remix for someone else. However, my doubt if it's going to be under Calvin Harris or Love Regenerator. I'm inclined to think it's the latter, but Simon Dunmore doesn't mention Love Regenerator in his Instagram post. Also, there will be an announcement tomorrow. View this post on Instagram 1999. I wrote this to Adam Wyles, a young kid from Scotland after he submitted his production demos for consideration. 21 years later I sent a text to Adam aka Calvin Harris to ask him about a track he played in his first lock down stream. He replied saying that it was his next single. It's a banger. With my tongue firmly planted in my cheek I asked if we could work with him on the release. A few weeks later that request has been granted. Tomorrow Defected Records will announce that they will be assisting Sony in the remixes, promotion & marketing of the next Calvin single. In an industry when most people quickly forget, the fact that this is still important to Calvin shows perfectly that he is a class act.... also that first impressions are lasting impressions. We can wait to get started 🙏
May 28, 20205 yr impressive that his demos were supposedly better than many they were receiving back in 1999 when he'd have been 14! great that it's finally come full circle and he gets to release on the label anyhow, and I look forward to hearing it.
May 29, 20205 yr It's called "Live Without Your Love" and it's a collaboration with Steve Lacy. The track will be out on June 12 June 11. View this post on Instagram
May 29, 20205 yr This is the information about the track on Beatport. Grammy award-winning, multi-platinum selling artist and heavyweight producer Calvin Harris makes his Defected Records debut with the release of "Live Without Your Love". The single with Grammy-nominated musician and producer Steve Lacy is the outcome of a long-held ambition for Calvin, whose love and respect for the UK house music label goes back over twenty years. The record sees Calvin at his most intuitive and rave-inclined, with club ready, penetrating stabs softened by Steve Lacy's drawl and plenty of acidic synth. Also, the pre-order main site has been updated with a June 11 release.
May 30, 20205 yr So it could be in a similar vein to the Love Regenerator stuff?!It seems so to me based in the description given. I assume the reason why this isn't credited as Love Regenerator is because the vocals of this song aren't taken from samples.
May 30, 20205 yr FYI, I'm not totally sure if this was the whole point of the Love Regenerator project, but I assume that. Anyway, regarding "Live Without Your Love", it seems to be a mix of Adam's both projects. It will follow the pattern of Love Regenerator with a more commercial input. Also, this is one of the songs he played on his livestreams and a snippet could be listened to in the pre-order links of Beatport and Traxsource. The length of the track in both digital platforms is 6:17, while it's 3:40 on iTunes.
