Posted November 25, 200618 yr From The Sun Westlife set to win chart race November 25, 2006 TOMORROW will be remembered as The Day The Music Died. William Hill have now stopped taking bets on whether PESTLIFE will beat OASIS to No1 when this Sunday’s album chart is revealed. The latest midweek figures show the Oirish crooners have shifted 159,000 copies of their dreadful release The Love Album, while Oasis’ Stop The Clocks has sold 139,000. There’s still time for Oasis fans to prevent this grave miscarriage of musical justice if they mount a giant stampede on record stores up and down the country. But I’d say it is less likely to happen than MICHAEL JACKSON taking over from KONNIE HUQ as the new Blue Peter presenter. This week I risked a barrage of abuse from Westlife fans when I called on Bizarre’s loyal army of readers to help thwart the boy band. hitting No1 with my Stop The C*cks campaign. And while you put up a brave fight, I fear the end is nigh. Tomorrow, barring divine intervention, I’m afraid De Loife will be crowned No1 — thereby sounding the death knell for British music as we know it. They saw off rock’s Holy Trinity of THE BEATLES, U2 and Oasis in what will go down in pop history as Black Sunday — or should that be Sunday Bloody Sunday? Perhaps it is now time for LIAM GALLAGHER to show his mettle and prove he really IS God and the saviour of rock ’n’ roll. Above I’ve conjured up a frightening image of how the future might look should the likes of Westlife and G4 conquer our once great nation. Stools, cheesy covers and plastic grins will become obligatory for any budding rock star hoping to crack the British charts. I’ve got my design wizards to mock up how BONO, PAUL McCARTNEY, Liam and NOEL GALLAGHER would look if they were forced to adopt the Westlife way. I’m sure Britain’s stool manufacturers are rubbing their hands with glee. LifeLight
November 25, 200618 yr Just read this in the paper, the public have bad taste in music. -_- I just want to cut an inch off... on one of the legs on the stools, so when they sit on them, they all fall :D
November 25, 200618 yr Media coverage like this is good for sales of all those albums including Westlife.
November 25, 200618 yr Westlife are the 21st Century equivalent of the early 1960s act George Mitchell (Black & White) Minstrels. In 30/40 years time people will recoil with horror as to how an act like Westlife became so popular.
November 25, 200618 yr Michael Jackson and Konnie Huq  That made me laugh  Also Take That, Il Divo, G4 & the Jordan & Peter out next week as well - even worse!
November 25, 200618 yr Must admit,as a Westlife fan I didn't think they'd be top 2 even.Didn't share Charisma's confidence at all.Never thought they'd beat Oasis tbh. Edited November 25, 200618 yr by coolchris
November 25, 200618 yr RIGHT. Enough is enough. The next person that starts babbling on about Westlife being better than Robbie or vice versa WILL be warned, i'm really, really tired of this it's the same old c**p in every single bloody topic in here, now stop the bickering or you will be warned, if Charis wants to talk about Westlife, let him. If he starts mentioning other artists and how Westlife are doing better I will warn him, and if anyone starts going on about how Robbie is better overall I will warn them as well. I hope I make myself clear. Topic Visible.

November 25, 200618 yr it looks certain westife will be number 1,im in no way a fan of the band but fair play to them they have really shown they can be a force to be reckoned with i would have never though they would have had a chance of beating oasis the beatles and u2 myself/ they are number 1 in ireland also beating u2 to 2nd place
November 25, 200618 yr Westlife; although not my cup of tea have really shown how strong their fanbase is. I don;t really see the problem it's not their fault they have thousands of fans and of course they are going to do an album that appealrs to them fans. On the up side; 159,000 households now have an album which features the amazing Delta Goodrem. :D
November 25, 200618 yr That's true...I won't be purchasing The Love Album though no matter how big of a Delta fan I am... I always thought how it was odd that Westlife always released singles and albums on easy weeks but there can be no stronger compeitition than Oasis, U2 and The Beatles so well done to the guys...

I agree, i'm no westlife fan but, you've gotta admit they've done well..

I think its good that a band like this, a 1990s style pop boyband remember, can not only lose a member but also continue to outlive the 3 yr lifespan that normally happen to these groups. and anyway i suppose they are the new cliff now. On the up side; 159,000 households now have an album which features the amazing Delta Goodrem. :D amazing bad that is!!!!

They are not a band though ;) Bands are people who play instruments and write their own songs -_-
November 25, 200618 yr Fair play to them. They deserve it imo after all the bad press they've had all week. ^_^
November 26, 200618 yr They are not a band though ;) Bands are people who play instruments and write their own songs -_- no we're using the term 'boyband' not Boy Band, obv. like Garage (as in the UKG/2step that mutated into 4x4/Dubstep) which is different to Garage as in the trashy thrashy rock music. the first coming from the Paradise Garage nightclub the second coming from people playing in Garages (no doubt when their GP vehicle (SUV) was not parker inside). other news on the subject: Westlife's magic lost on Barlow Lindesay Irvine Friday November 24, 2006 Guardian Unlimited · As the brutal WAR for Sunday's No1 slot in the album chart enters its fifth day, the entirely unfabricated conflict is today showing worrying signs of escalation as more and more stars are drawn into battle. Following Elton John, who yesterday joined the fray with a hail of insults directed at Noel Gallagher, Take That's Gary Barlow today aims his fire on Westlife in the Sun. "I just don't get the whole Westlife thing," Barlow tells clearly partisan WAR correspondent Victoria Newton. "I don't understand who would go out and buy their records." "I'm definitely backing Oasis over them - I thought Oasis would storm it to No1," he continues with inflammatory rhetoric, backing up Newton's campaign for "readers to go out in their thousands" and rout the Irish. U2 and the Beatles, originally tipped for victory in the clash of the album releases, seem already to have fallen, old soldiers trampled mercilessly underfoot by the march of Oasis and Westlife sales. Only Paul Weller, urged to take arms by Victoria Newton, has managed to maintain a neutral silence. Clearly, there is ongoing carnage on the sales floors of Virgin and HMV, and it seems sadly likely that more will be drawn into the ugly imbroglio before a victor emerges. · Wars, of course, fray many a nerve and provide the occasion for ancient hatreds to re-emerge. So it proves today, with Noel Gallagher launching an unprovoked salvo at "troubled rival" Robbie Williams in the Sun. Asked by readers whom he would shoot if he had a gun with a single bullet, and both Phil Collins and Robbie within range, Gallagher says: "I don't give a **** about Phil Collins. I wouldn't shoot him. I do think he's a bit of a knob, though. "As for Robbie, I'd put the bullet in the gun as he's eventually going to do it himself as he is a grossly unhappy person." · Gary Barlow, similarly, has been drawn back into an old standoff with George Michael. Barlow responds to recent sniping from Michael about the former's songwriting ability with an attack on George's public dope smoking. Barlow's memoirs include a poignant confession of his own drug experiments, but, he says, "the difference is, I wouldn't smoke it on TV. That's not right." · Bitterness of a different kind from Lily Allen. With characteristic restraint, she has weighed into the NME's handling of its annual cool list results. An unusually high number of women made the top 10 - with a number one for the Gossip's Beth Ditto - and were asked in for a photo shoot, reports the Daily Star. With characteristic restraint, Allen comments on the paper's pusillanimous coverage of the results: "We get another ****ing Muse cover, because the NME thought their readers might not buy a magazine with an overweight lesbian and a not particularly attractive looking me on the front. w****rs." · With discord and disarray all around us, it is reassuring that some signs of love and affection are still out there. Liam Gallagher is asked by a Sun reader what he would do were John Lennon still alive and he had 24 hours to spend with him. The Oasis frontman is initially uncertain, but soon settles on a touching expression of devotion. "I'd probably bum him," he says.
November 26, 200618 yr All these singers just slag eachother off. It's like a soap opera  WAR correspondent Victoria Newton
November 26, 200618 yr Tomorrow's album chart is going to be a total car crash. Even if Westlife don't get #1, I'll still hate both of the acts in the top 2. :(
November 26, 200618 yr Westlife are the 21st Century equivalent of the early 1960s act George Mitchell (Black & White) Minstrels. In 30/40 years time people will recoil with horror as to how an act like Westlife became so popular. Not necessarily. Look at another act from the 50s/60s that performed mainly cover material and never really wrote his own songs. Repeated the same pre-orchestrated act when performing his music. Released a lot of DIRE material along with some songs which will (like it or not) be remembered for years to come. Elvis has now left the building........
