It´s not the fact that they simply mimed, but Milli Vanilli didn´t have any part on the recording. It´s not the same as recording a song and then miming over a playback, it´s much worse and disrespectful.

Actually, it's slightly worse than that, it's plain fraudulent.... And isn't there a legal term for passing off somebody else's work as your own... Oh yeah, that would be plagiarism... wouldn't it...?

Naomi Campbell's album is actually really good. She does have a voice that could strip paint but the songs are great. ;)

Can't say I have ever heard her attempt at music. But I love Paris Hilton's album with a passion, if that is anything to go by. ha!

Milli Vanilli did win a Grammy for Best New Artist I believe. It was taken from them when their manager decided to go to the press with the truth.

They were enormously popular - they had 2 top 5 UK hits.

I understand what you are saying but if your just talking about "pop music" then generally one needs to have a "nice" voice, not a strong voice. And also its oppinion, some people say Courtney Love cant sing, others love the roughness of her voice. Ashlee Simpson does not have a conventionally great voice but it suites her music. Britney Spears is a great example. She has such a weak voice but it suites her music. If she was singing big power ballads or something then she would be shown up.

I agree entirely, though it's more of the difference between "album" voice and "live" voice that bothers me. Although I realize too that it can vary substantially. I have heard Britney absolutely KILL live a couple times, absolutely perfect vocals. But most of the time she doesn't quite match the vocal strength of her albums. Another example is Kelly Clarkson - everyone knows she has phenomenal vocal talent because of Idol... but I've heard a couple live performances that were appalling.

I own 'Glitter'. It's not her worst album IMO - it's just her worst-selling.

I own Glitter, and it isnt the Worst mariah album :D

Worst from that list has to be Crazy Frog, at least some of the others attempt singing (Paris) :P

I actually feel bad for Milli Vanilli because there are MANY current popular artists who regularly pull the exact same stunt and no one seems to care. They (and Ashley Simpson) get caught miming but anyone with a half a brain recognizes it at many major concerts, awards shows, sports events, and other performances. What is the difference between a skipping track at a Milli Vanilli concert and a Spice Girls performance at the Brits where the soundtrack is about 1 second ahead of the lipsynching? Give me a break.

Actually, I don't think the whole Ashlee Simpson thing is the same ballpark at all. OK, she may be a rubbish singer, and she is probably heavily autotuned, but it is still her singing, and the decision whether or not to sing live on a TV show isn't usually the decision of the act anyway. Sometimes they are told they have to mime. The only time I think it's a problem is when they are performing live in concerts and so on as fans have payed to see them there. TV shows and the like are just promotion anyway. I really don't see why that is the same thing as having someone else sing the song and someone else pretending it's them.

I kind of feel sorry for Milli Vanilli in a way, as they certainly weren't the first to pull that trick. Their manager Frank Farian did something similar with Boney M, as the male member of that group just mimed to Farian's vocals.

Anyway, back on topic, I haven't heard any of those albums thank God, but I'd put the Crazy Frog and Pointless Hilton as the worst two acts there.

Boney M - out this week at your local supermarket record dept!!!!

Crazy Frog

And I think Glitter is one of Mariah's good albums too ^_^

Can I ask why it's ALWAYS people like Mariah, Paris etc. and you never get anything like rock bands or something like that

Personally Im shure most people would say that they prefer Mariah to some rock band -_-

Well, I think the list is fairly well balanced, you have a few acts who could be put loosely into the 'Rock' category (kinda 'Pop Rock' though it has to be said..)... Rod Stewart, John Lennon, The Hoff.....

This list is based upon the actual quality of the music, not popularity.... Rock tends to produce far better quality than Pop does...

But in saying that, there should be one or two Prog Rock albums up there by Yes or ELP, absolutely fukkin' HORRENDOUS stuff they came away with most of the time...... I'd put the Prodigy's most recent album on the list as well - utter SH!TE.... Seven years and that is what they gave us....???

But what I mean is, sometimes polls like this are very biased with just putting in pop/RnB/soul etc.

I could easily make a rather large list of Hard Rock, Prog, Metal, Indie or Alt Rock albums that I have listened to over the years and have thought were tedious, insufferable w/ank  , but chances are you'd probably scratch your head and go "HUH?", like about 90-odd per cent of the general public. These polls are made up for the general public to relate to, so they tend to focus on the big names...

Thats exactly right. I've heard a lot of singles from rock/indie bands that I like, but when I got the album it was quite frankly pretty c**p, but those bands aren't household names like Mariah, Paris etc etc so they never get included on stuff like this.

Josh, from what I can gather from the initial post, this is taken from somewhere else, some magazine or website has these choices available, Tigerboy didn't just pluck them out of thin air... :P
