91. Metos - I Gera (2010) - 8.0

Country : Lithuania

On the wave of YVA and 69 Danguje success many newcomers wanted to reach their level of popularity. In short period of time the number of Lithuanian girl groups has grown significantly. Some from them became strong tier 2 on Lithuanian pop scene, the others were forgotten like the heroines from this post.

“I Gera” (To Good) is a debut song for trio Metos (“Mint” on Lithuanian) with very optimistic lyrics. The main message is “Viskas I Gera” (Everything is good), even if something negative has happened in your life, for sample black cat ran across the road.

90. M2M - Don't Say You Love Me (2000) - 8.0

Country : Norway

Chart results : # 2 (Norway), # 4 (Australia, New Zealand), # 10 (Finland), # 12 (Ireland), # 16 (United Kingdom, Netherlands), # 17 (Sweden)

It’s the most successful song in worldwide charts from all 100 entries of this countdown.

"Don't Say You Love Me" was the debut and most memorable single for Norwegian pop duo M2M. The song first appeared on Radio Disney before its official single release in October 1999 and became popular after “Pokemon” soundtrack .

Marion Raven and Marit Larsen ceased performing as M2M in 2002 and went on to pursue solo careers. Marit’s solo career was a little more successful in her home country, but Marion had minor European hit single (# 6 in UK) , when recorded a duet with popular American rock singer Meat Loaf in 2006.

89. 21st Century Girls - 21st Century Girls (1999) - 8.0

Country : United Kingdom

Chart results : # 16 in UK

English teenage all-female group 21st Century Girls (lead singer Leanne Granner) were the first signing to Simon Fuller's label "19 Recordings" in 1999 year. After a big publicity campaign the band released their debut single "21st Century Girls" in June, which peaked at # 16 in UK.

Ironically their music career was over before the start of 21st century.

88. Tuuli - It’s Over (2002) - 8.0

Country : Canada

Tuuli (“Wind” on Finnish language) is Canadian pop/punk band from Toronto, which was formed by lead vocalist Jenny MacIsaac in 1997. Their only album “Here We Go” came out in 2002. The second single “It’s Over” was a hit in Canada. Tuuli toured for the next two years but sadly dropped off the map after that.

“It’s Over” was discovered only two months ago on Haven music forum, but already included in my all-time best songs list.

87. Cookies 'N' Beans - Burning Flags (2013) - 8.0

Country : Sweden

Cookies 'N' Beans are a Swedish country music trio, consisting of Frida Ohrn, Linda Strom and Charlotte Centervall. In 2007 year the group released debut album “Tales From A Trailor Trash Soul”, which consisted of the group's favourite country music songs.

In 2013 year the ladies did the second unsuccesful Melodifestifalen attempt with Fredrik Kempe’s song “Burning Flags”. In my ranking Cookies 'N' Beans finished on the second place, just behind the masterpiece “Trivialitet”. In this year Frida did a comeback and easily won in my Melodifestifalen ranking - 2020 with “We Are One”.

86. Sokoledas - As Salia (2009) - 8.0

Country : Lithuania

„Sokoledas“ (“Chocolate” on Lithuanian) was a female pop duo. In a short time, Juste Mozolyte and Kristina Karalyte-Sniege became popular throughout the country and had good airplay rotation on Lithuanian radio.

“As Salia” (I’m Next) was their most well-known song and the opening track on debut album “Sokoledas”. The performance in a vintage dresses looks like a copycat of another more popular Lithuanian group's appearance and their big hit.

83. Shampoo - Viva La Megababes (1994) - 8.0

Country : United Kingdom

Chart results : # 27 in UK

Shampoo were an English female duo, formed by Jacqueline Blake and Caroline Askew. The name of band deriving from their schoolyard nickname of 'the shampoo girls', for claiming to be 'washing their hair' when turning down date requests.

In my chart “Viva La Megababes” became their second consecutive # 1 single and Shampoo continued the attack on Pearls’ record, who had three number one hits in 70s.

I don’t like Spice Girls, that’s why Shampoo is the best “Girl power” group for me, even if their most successful song was peaked only at # 11 in UK.

81. K3 - Kusjesdag (2007) - 8.0

Country : Belgium

Chart results : # 7 (Belgium), # 9 (Netherlands)

K3 was all-female Belgian-Dutch music group. The group's name is derived from first letters of the three original members' first names: Karen Damen, Kristel Verbeke and Kathleen Aerts. Their signature style is that all three girls in the group mostly wear the same outfit.

In fourteen years period K3 ladies recorded 13 studio albums, three soundtracks and some hits compilations, so they are the most hardworking girl group in music history.

I don’t care about the current line-up, for me the story of group was over after goodbye single “K3 Loves You” in 2015 year.

“Kusjesdag” (Kissing Day) is the first single from the ninth K3 studio album “Kusjes”, which became top 10 hit on both main markets for K3 music. This was the last album for Kathleen Aerts before she left the group.

80. Me & My - Let The Love Goes On (1999) - 8.0

Country : Denmark

Me & My are underrated Danish pop group formed by sisters Susanne and Pernille Georgi. They are best known for their first hit single "Dub-I-Dub" (1995). The song was successful in many European countries, being # 1 in Denmark, # 2 in Sweden and Belgium. This single was also a top 20 hit in Finland, Switzerland, Norway and Austria.

The titled track of Me & My second album "Let The Love Go On" became a big hit in Denmark and surprisingly in Russia.

Younger sister Susanne represented Andorra in Eurovision Song Contest 2009 with the song "La Teva Decisio" (my # 1 from this contest).

79. Tuesdays - Changing The Moods (1998) - 8.0

Country : Norway

Tuesdays was all-female rock band from Larvik. Originally started out as Tuesday Girls and made one album under that moniker in 1994 for Mercury, which was released in Norway. After a slight line-up change, the band continued as Tuesdays and subsequently re-recorded most of Tuesday Girls songs for a 1998 album on Polydor, which saw a wider European and North-American release. The self-titled album had some commercial success, especially the single "It's Up To You".

“Changing The Moods” became their final single. The follow-up album was rejected by Arista and the group split up.

Former lead singer Laila Samuelsen released a solo album in 2002 and is still involved in writing music. In 2016 year she was a participant of Melodi Grand Prix (Norwegian Eurovsion pre-selection) with “Afterglow”, but finished only on 4th place.

78. Pinups - Just About A Dream (1981) - 8.0

Country : United States

I discovered this group through random recommendation on Youtube. You can understand why I added them in top 100. :)

Pinups (Lisa London, Glynnis Talken, Tegan, Mary Senecal) were American girl band from California.

“Just About A Dream” was the first single from album “Pinups”. In 2018 year surprisingly almost all their old songs were released on brand new compilation.

77. Blogos Mergaites - Ar Tu Zinai (2009) - 8.0

Country : Lithuania

Very underrated pop group Blogos Mergaites (“Bad girls” on English) was formed in 2006 year through a competition organized by the record company “Zuzi Records“.

Four girls overcame the high vocal requirements in the selection : Rasa Bagdonaviciute, Lina Slenyte, Milisandra Kvaraciejute and Guoda Rudinskaite. In 2008 year Milisandra left the group. Blogos Mergaites continued their activities as a trio and shortened their title to BM, releasing their second album "Truksta Oro" at the beginning of next year. The group was later disbanded.

“Ar Tu Zinai” (“Do You Know”) became their third hit from “Truksta Oro” after a titled track and “Lele“.

I love Blogos Mergaites, both albums were recorded in nice pop style and have some gorgeous tracks.

76. Graaf - Give It Up (1998) - 8.0

Country : Sweden

Chart results : # 7 in Sweden

Graaf were two Swedish sisters and ex-models Hannah and Magdalena Graaf. In 1998 year they both gave up glamour modeling and established the pop group.

“Give It Up” was their second single and became maiden # 1 for Swedish sisters duo in my chart.

In 2006 year younger sister Hannah joined in a very small club of singers, which had # 1 solo hits after the end of group in my chart. Her stylish old-fashioned masterpiece "Naughty Boy" got very rare 10 / 10 from me, also it’s my all-time # 1 favourite Melodifestivalen song.

75. Loose Chippin's - I'll Be There For You (2000) - 8.0

Country : United Kingdom

Loose Chippin’s is the most mysterious UK girl group ever. There is not any info about group in Wikipedia and Discogs too.

Two videos were filmed, but they didn’t have any chart results in time period, when every single easily reached top 75 in UK. So possibly both singles were cancelled or very small number of copies was issued.

“I'll Be There For You” is a cover version of Rembrandts’ main hit, it is best known as the main theme song to the most popular sitcom of 90s generation “Friends”.

74. Pearls - You Came, You Saw, You Conquered (1972) - 8.0

Country : United Kingdom

Chart results : # 32 in UK

A cover version of “You Came, You Saw, You Conquered” was the second number one for Pearls in my chart.

You Came You Saw You Conquered is a play on the famous Veni Vidi Vici "I came I saw I conquered" said to have come from Julius Caesar. Great record and I just learned some latin pronunciation - it sounds less impressive and more comical as it was spoken weni widi wiki

John, there are not many popular songs in my top 75.

If don't count Shampoo and Girls Aloud you must know two 70s singles (third Pearls' entry and minor top 30 hit in UK). :)
