17. Hypnotic - Pray (2018) - 9.0

Possibly it's the most unpredictable entry from all 100 songs.

 

I love Latvian Eurovision pre-selection, after remarkable "Beautiful Song" (mostly known as my all-time # 1 song) we got very underrated "Pray". Musically this song is something between pop and crossover genres. The performance was perfect, three ladies looks like a princesses in those dresses with tiaras.

16. YVA - Panele Verta Milijono (2007) - 9.0

All YVA girls were born in Kaunas and Kristina was "Miss Grace" of Lithuanian beauty pageant in 2011 year, so maybe it's ironic song about themselves.

15. Benefit - Sex Sells (2001) - 9.5

If you will ask anybody of my age in Russia to name popular girls group songs, that you obviously will be surprised. Spice Girls will get some votes, but there are three low-known singles, which became huge radio hits in my country. "I Saw You Dancing" by Swedish group Yaki-Da, already mentioned "Let The Love Goes On" from Me & My and of course "Sex Sells".

 

British girl duo Benefit (Lucy Harrison and Judy Hulme) was created in 2002 year. The ladies were signed by small label Edel Records, but both singles didn't see the official release. Due to great success of their debut single "Sex Sells" in my country, we got the official release of Benefit album.

 

Short Benefit history was over after the release of the second video on "What's Gonna Be" in 2003 year.

14. YVA - Kaukes (2017) - 9.5

After seven years of fans' waiting new YVA song "Kaukes" (Masks) was released. It was very unpredictable news, something like the snowflakes in summer. "Kaukes" easily became 13th number one hit for best girl group and advanced them in all-time leaderboard over Blondie, who had twelve # 1 hits in my chart.

 

Kristina Ivanova supported the idea of the song. She said that this song is about women who have to change a lot of masks in their lives. "Us people are used to seeing some in the scene, but in reality we are very diverse. We are told that we are only able to get on the stage - we are mothers, friends, wives, women. This song perfectly reveals that sometimes it is very good to wear that mask and be naive blond, and sometimes it's necessary to put on a serious woman", said Kristina.

 

It’s very hard to rate "Kaukes" and compare this song with old classic YVA hits. On this moment of time all three ladies have other live preferences (solo career for Natalija, beauty salon for Kristina and motherhood for Goda) and don’t care about YVA future very much. I want to be wrong, but possibly "Kaukes" became their last song and my dreams about 5th studio album will not come true.

13. Mokinukes - Mokinukes Valsas (2007) - 9.5

The beat of my heart keeps on missing ...

 

Oops, it's another song, but "Mokinukes Valsas" (School Waltz) sounds very similar with Lulu's Eurovision hit.

 

In 2018 year Mokinukes performed their old hit on annual humorous ceremony "Golden Onions" in very interesting line-up (without a group leader Iruna, but ex-member Ruta Zilionyte joined to her old friends).

12. Cats UK - Luton Airport (1979) - 9.5

Chart results : # 22 in UK

 

 

Main Cats UK hit "Luton Airport" spent 5 weeks at # 1 in retro chart and it's my favourite girl group song from 20th century.

11. YVA - Taip Taip Taip (2006) - 9.5

"Taip Taip Taip" (Yes Yes Yes) is already ninth YVA track in my top 100. For me Lithuanian sounds very charming and a little bit magical, it's like a language of the fairies.

10. YVA - Laukiu Kaledu (2009) - 9.5

All good things comes to end. "Laukiu Kaledu" (I'm Waiting For Christmas) was last # 1 hit for YVA before their split. In 2010 year after "Greatest Hits" release (mostly for collectors, because group fans already heard all songs on the previous CDs), Natalija's pregnancy became the end of group. Three other ladies (Kristina, Gintare, Ieva) from YVA 3.0 line-up tried to launch new music project Sarka, but didn't get any success.

 

 

In the previous year YVA remembered about my favourite Christmas song and masterfully performed their festive hit on Lithuanian TV.

8. YVA - I Dangu (2009) - 9.5

"I Dangu" (Into The Sky) is the most known YVA song for Europeans, because it was their second unsuccessful attempt in the national pre-selection for Eurovision Song Contest. It's not confirmed by any sources, but iconic NF performance looks like a copycat of "Flying The Flag (For You)" from Eurovision - 2007. Air hostess uniforms also remind about Britney Spears - Toxic.

7. Girls Aloud - See The Day (2005) - 9.5

Chart results : # 9 in UK, # 14 in Ireland

 

 

Very underrated "See The Day" spent five weeks on the top of my chart. This single was a contender for Christmas # 1 in UK (or at least # 2 behind X-Factor release), but unpredictably finished only on 9th place.

When all-time # 1 girl group was born. :wub:

 

"Barbie" is not the best choice for representing YVA discography, but it's signature track, not only for group, but for me too. This funny pop track made me a big fan of these Lithuanian beauties. I discovered YVA through music contest on ESCForum.net somewhere in 2012-2013 year. "Barbie" was the first YVA song, which I heard and it was love at first sight. YVA tried to represent Lithuania on Eurovision 2005 with "Barbie", but wasn't successful in national pre-selection. Suprisingly "Barbie" is not available on any YVA albums, also it's their first and last song on English language.

4. Magnit - Laiko Rate (2015) - 9.5

I love all YVA ladies. Natalija is a leader and the most talented singer, we could not have YVA without her, Goda is a natural beauty, but Kristina stole my heart. So I was very happy, when she didn’t left pop scene after YVA split and created Magnit.

 

For two years I represented Lithuania in Worldvision music contest on ESCUnited forum, but from 21 songs only "Laiko Rate" (Time Circle) was qualified into the final.
