April 13, 200718 yr I don't like Robbie's track either. No magic, anyone could be singing it, just a song. very disappointed and I really do hope that is not the future.
April 13, 200718 yr I don't like Robbie's track either. No magic, anyone could be singing it, just a song. very disappointed and I really do hope that is not the future. You know Susie, I thought the same when I first heard it last year, but trust me, it really really grows on you and I adore it now.
April 13, 200718 yr You know Susie, I thought the same when I first heard it last year, but trust me, it really really grows on you and I adire it now.  Scotty.. I think its really good as well & is equally as good as anything else on this album....the album itself it very unusual & is not the normal run of the mill tracks that everyone would automatically think that Rob would do or that maybe people would normally like him to do. like.. but it certainly grows on you.. Rob's version is very good indeed & fits in very well with the rest of the album as I think he puropsely did not attack the song if you follow what I mean. I do think that Susie may have a point though in that I do think that Rob's direction in music will continue to go away from the what he used to do... you know the Anthems, Ballads, etc ).. I have the feeling that Rob has made his decision ( even if it mean lower sales ) & that he will from now on make the kind of music that he personally gets pleasure from which may not please all his fans ......He did say last year that he wanted to leave the old Robbie Williams behind... I may be talking just a load of rubbish but I just think that things are looking different especially when I see him continuing to work with the likes of Mark who has a very different feel on music to anything Rob has done prior to Rudebox. I suppose we will know in the next number of months anyway when we hear more about exactly what he is doing. He is certainly keeping us guessing...... I had to take them off the site as Jupiter9 told me that I could get you into trouble ( so I apologise ) . I have PM to Jupiter9... Ok & Many Thanks....
April 13, 200718 yr Oh Dear.. Even the hottest Producer in town cannot escape the wrought of the Mirror NEW ALBUMS THIS WEEK ( The Mirror ) By Gavin Martin 13/04/2007 More Music Have your say: Music forum CD OF THE WEEK MARK RONSON – VERSION 3/5 In pop, when you are a hot producer you have to make the most of it. Mark Ronson will quite possibly never be hotter than he is right now. For Ronson, manning the controls behind Amy Winehouse’s smash US album Back To Black, and thus selling retro soul back to where it came from, was a major coup. His ability to bring out Lily Allen’s relaxed, funny but smart character on Smile, plus funky bust-ups with Christina Aguilera and Ghostface Killah further enhance his reputation. Draw a discreet veil over his Robbie Williams relationship and you have an impressive portfolio. British-born, New York-based DJ turned-producer-Ronson was raised as a member of the Rockistocracy. Mick Jones of Foreigner is his stepfather, while Springsteen and McCartney were among visitors to his socialite mother’s New York townhouse. For his second ‘solo’ album, Ronson builds on Fatboy Slim’s formula - user-friendly beats with obvious but hard to resist samples and charismatic vocals. He also ropes in his famous – and not so famous - friends to perform 12 modern favourites. Even if you’ve never considered Coldplay’s God Put A Smile Upon Your Face a favourite, the truly wonderful Daptone horn section turn the stadium rock plodder into an all-out fiesta. It’s also a blast to hear Winehouse get her teeth into The Zutons’ lusty and fruity Valerie, but thereafter Ronson’s album is decidedly a mixed bag. One writer has already called Robbie Williams’ Only One I Know a sonic suicide note and it certainly cries out for something Mark can’t provide. In fact, as Version progresses, its obvious failing becomes ever clearer - an album fronted by an anonymous man relying on others to go through the motions for him. Paul Smith of Maximo Park redoing Apply Some Pressure seems particularly pointless, while Kasabian on their own LSF and the Kenna-fronted version of country artist Ryan Adams’ Amy is a lame, lazy filler. It is the sort of album you might hear in a clothes shop, buy on impulse and seldom play again. Ronson is a sussed and well connected business and craftsman. No doubt he reckons drawing in fans from across the spectrum will enhance his general label, brand and sound-of-the-moment standing. He is also, hopefully, aware that today’s hot producer can be next season’s nowhere man. And if he doesn’t know that, he can place a call to Bomb The Bass or Phil Spector to find out just how. Version is passable enough, but that’s just the problem - it passes, rather than seizes the time.
April 14, 200718 yr I like the song and I like Rob's vocal on it but the song itself is nothing special. I've listened to it a lot now and it hasn't really grabbed me, its just a good song but there's no ooomph in it. It just sorta blends in ;)

I've listened to it a lot now and it hasn't really grabbed me, its just a good song but there's no ooomph in it. It just sorta blends in ;) That is exactly the point I think on the Versions Album .. it does blend in which I feel is exactly what it was supposed to do.. I have listened to the original track by the Charlatans & its in the same style hence why I think that Rob's version shows the respect due to the original... The critics in the tabloids dont seem to have got the point at all with this album & when it comes to Rob anyway I expect them to be negative. Its not gonna bother me anymore because I just remember back the great reviews that Rudebox got from what I would call proper music critcs who are in the thick of the music industry... those are the opinions that count not rubbishy tabloids. Rob is not going to lie down & die because of the tabloids....his work is excellent as usual & Marks album is very good indeed. B) Edited April 14, 200718 yr by TessaT

Eugh :puke2:  I cannot stand the Mirror's absolutelly pathetic hatred and jealousy towards Rob, do they EVER stop making digs at him
April 17, 200718 yr Rob has got some really nice comments on the reviews on Amazon UK on Marks album ' Versions '... I think this album is real nice & really gows on you. The reviews for Only One I Know on the WWW are put there on purpose by people who are spiteful against Rob.
April 17, 200718 yr Author I'm listening to the album as we speak. One of my friends bought it today and I've stolen it off him to play!
April 17, 200718 yr I'm listening to the album as we speak. One of my friends bought it today and I've stolen it off him to play! Its nice to see the good comments that Rob is getting on that site in connection with that album because it brings his work to a whole new audience who might not necessarily buy a RW album, hence why I think that it was great that he had recorded that track for the Marks album.... It really shows off his talent. I really think that the minute Rob puts out anything at the moment that there are loads of sites out there on the web that go out of their way to knock him without even listening to the tracks. I definately think that it happened with Rudebox & I do think that VN was very unfair in the review that she gave the single at the beginning... it was actually uncalled for in my opinion....If she did not like it she could have criticised it without the malovelent language that she used... She tried to retract it later but the severe damage was done then....something I wont forget her for in a hurry. She is not qualified in the first place to give such an opinion...what experience has she in the music industry... why did the likes of Mojo / Uncut / Dj Intl / NME & many more say it was his best original work to date... something wrong in that I think...I know people have tried to make excuses for her since but as far as I am concerned she did a lot of damage to Rob personally this year.I hope she can sleep at night... which Im sure she can... I am sick of her type... two faced... Ill' bet when Rob returns to the UK she will be lining herself up to get the first interview.. that is why she is being nice as pie at the moment. I am sorry for the rant but I am very annoyed... :arrr: :arrr: :arrr: :arrr:
April 17, 200718 yr She gave the album a great review though, but by then she had already put so many off by her negetivity towards the single. The album should've been called 1974 all along. When people hear the word Rudebox they no doubt think of the song, and don't even give the album a chance. <_< She is nowhere near as bad as the 3am bitches though. They are truely horrible. <_<

They are truely horrible. <_< I agree to a certain extent... but I always think that these media people have their own agenda's anyway... I just get the feeling that she is going to do the full Robbie love thing at some stage along the way & make it look like she was the only one being nice to him... I just dont get that kind of thinking or action... I like things straight along the line & I respect people more for it. Fine.. Rob did make a mistake in releasing Rudebox as a single first ( he admitted that in an interview & also said that he admitted that he made a mistake thinking that it was going to be a worldwide hit )... what I dont like is the personal vendettas that have being set against him for no good reason & people trying to make him look stupid. Im only glad that his talent is still allowed to shine through even if it is on somebody else's album at the moment. He needs to be out there & Versions is a good showcase for him at the moment... there is far too much negative stuff being written & in fairness the comments on Amazon UK are about the music for a change not bashing Rob personally as is happening in other websites ..... Anyone who has bought Rudebox loves it but loads of people wont touch it & have never even bothered listening to it so I think that its important that people can still listen to his work elsewhere... do you follow where Im coming from....
