Posted November 9, 20204 yr 8th November 2020 It's an impossible situation for one of my most-ever competitive top 10's this week, with an unexpected mash-up between Midnight Sky & Stevie Nicks Edge Of Seventeen coming out on top, meaning Miley gets a 5th week on top this year with that song, and Stevie finally gets hers in top spot 39 years late, and her first solo chart-topper since 1989's Rooms On Fire, though of course she's had another 3 with Fleetwood Mac starting with Tusk in 1979. I love all the top 10 dearly, all should ideally be top 3 tracks, and due to Abba releasing vinyl editions of the 3 singles from the 40th anniversary of the Super Trouper album, there is an Abba mini-invasion as they all made the UK sales chart and an expanded chart to 100. However, 2 of them have had grand chart runs already so I've opted for the B sides instead. So, the magnificent Lay All You Love On Me is in at 4, 39 years after topping my chart, while Elaine debuts at 98, and The Piper returns at 26 almost 20 years since it had a short chart run as an album track. The Avalanches belatedly get a 3rd top 10, Alan Parsons Project get a very belated first. Alan Parsons was an actual engineer on actual Abbey Road and Dark Side Of The Actual Moon back in the day, before getting US 80's success with his Austin-Powers-referencing Project. Harry Styles gets his 6th charted track off Fine Lines, Golden at 66, Kylie gets a 4th off newly-released Disco with optional extras soon as I can find a copy to buy, Celebrate You being my initial choice at 78. Tame Impala make it a 6th off The Slow Rush (or 7th Japanese Edition track), Is It True? Yup! Steps get a 2nd of 2020 with an Abba-alike, As Good As New aka Something In Your Eyes, Jake Bugg is back after a gap of 4 years for an 11th chart entry. Stevie Wonder gets his first new material to chart in 3 years, now off Motown after almost 60 years! It's a stomping politicial statement and extends his run to 52 years since For Once In My Life was his first top 10 in my actual childhood charts. Foo Fighters also return after a 3-year lay-off, Shame (ring bell) Shame (ring bell) extending their run to 24 years or so, and Dve Grohl's to 29 years or so. And to my Shame (ring bell) I have a Xmas record entering my charts in November - they are usually banned till December, but the quirky Raveonettes' Snowstorm is a new goodie, and new Xmas tracks that It's her best song since only love can hurt like this, I think. Lay All Your Love On Me is a classic 🥰🥰🥰 Falling down is indeed, ahem, falling down 🤪 I had to sorry 😂 it's so good. I feel Paloma is finally bringing the goods although her music this era does sound a bit dated. Last Night On Earth is alright. It's quite bland though. I Miss U climbing :cheer: Super chart!

Hey James! :) The remix has had the opposite affect on me, it's boosted my love for Midnight Sky all over again :lol: I think you may be right about Gold, in any normal week it would be topping my chart (but in any normal week my new whole top 6 would be topping my chart!) and Only Love Can Hurt also topped for me. I may buy the new Paloma album yet, Ive yet to check out any other tracks, Kylie's new one came first :lol: Last Night On Earth is a bit schizophrenic - the gentle ballad bits are gorgeous, then the plodding build to the hook sort of doesn't fit, but the rest of the song survives it anyway cheers! B-)
