December 18, 20204 yr SOLO FEMALES – 2 UK No.1 STUDIO ALBUMS IN A CALENDAR YEAR (W/E 28th July 1956 to W/E 24th December 2020) (Weeks at No.1 in Brackets) Taylor Swift is only the 2nd strictly Solo Female to have 2 UK No.1 Studio Albums inside a Calendar Year. NOTE -- However, Taylor is the 1st Female to achieve it with 2 Studio Albums, that were both released in that same Year. (No Females in Groups have achieved that either). 1).. RIHANNA W/E 8th January 2011 -- Loud (3) W/E 3rd December 2011 -- Talk That Talk (1) 2).. TAYLOR SWIFT W/E 6th August 2020 -- Folklore (3) W/E 24th December 2020 -- Evermore (1) THE 2 SOLO FEMALES WHO DID NOT QUITE ACHIEVE IT A).. GLORIA ESTEFAN W/E 25th March 1989 -- Anything For You (1) -- (This was with Miami Sound Machine) W/E 5th August 1989 -- Cuts Both Ways (6) -- (She was only Solo on this one) B).. AMY WINEHOUSE -- @@@ W/E 6th August 2011 -- Back To Black (3) W/E 17th December 2011 -- Lioness : Hidden Treasures (1) -- (A Compilation Album) @@@ = Amy Winehouse is only the 3rd Solo Female to achieve 2 different UK No.1 Albums in a Calendar Year – of any type – Studio and/or Compilation. NOTE -- If take a look at Females in Male/Female Groups, then only Blondie & ABBA, have had 2 Studio Albums, in a Calendar Year. But, in both of those cases, the 1st of those No.1’s, were released in the previous Year. Blondie did it with ‘Parallel Lines’ and ‘Eat To The Beat’, in 1979. ABBA achieved it with ‘Super Trouper’ and ‘The Visitors’, in 1981. If we look at entirely Female Groups, then the Spice Girls achieved it in 1997. ‘Spice’ was No.1, (3 times), that Year and ‘Spiceworld’ was No.1, (twice), that Year. ‘Spice’ was released in 1996. ABBA had also had 2 UK No.1 Albums, in 1979, (‘Voulez Vous’ and ‘Greatest Hits Vol.2’), and in 1980, (‘Greatest Hits Vol.2’ and ‘Super Trouper’), but – as you can see – that was with 1 Studio Album and 1 Compilation Album. If we count Film Soundtracks, then Shirley Jones, was on both ‘Oklahoma!’ and ‘Carousel’, in 1956… Edited December 18, 20204 yr by zeus555
