Notable movements in the Top 20:

 5. Elina Svitolina (Ukraine)

 6. Sofia Kenin (USA)

Coco is gone, couldn't watch the game against Stevens but Coco was terrible on round 1, nerves I guess? It's. miracle she survived round 1 so not surprised she's out

but so far the favourites are doing surprisingly well in both men & women, no big loses so far that I can think of...

Emma Raducanu delivered another impressive display which belied her youth and inexperience as she swept aside China's Zhang Shuai to reach the US Open third round.

Raducanu won 6-2 6-4 against 32-year-old Zhang, who is ranked 101 places higher than the 18-year-old.

Superior in every department, Raducanu needed one hour and 21 minutes to win.

Next she will face Spain's Sara Sorribes Tormo on Saturday for a place in the fourth round.

Novak Djokovic continued his pursuit of a calendar Grand Slam by reaching the US Open third round with a straight-set win over Dutch rival Tallon Griekspoor.

Djokovic, aiming to become only the sixth player to complete a clean sweep of the Australian Open, French Open, Wimbledon and US Open, won 6-2 6-3 6-2.

Novak is always so lucky with the draws, always super easy first rounds

Spanish teenager Carlos Alcaraz claimed a fifth set tie-break to stun Greek third seed Stefanos Tsitsipas in a thrilling third-round US Open match.

Alcaraz, 18, twice led Tsitsipas by a set before prevailing 6-3 4-6 7-6 (7-2) 0-6 7-6 (7-5) to set up his first Grand Slam fourth-round appearance.

Earlier, second seed Daniil Medvedev eased into round four with a straight-set win over Pablo Andujar.

Medvedev plays Dan Evans next after the British number one beat Alexei Popyrin.

My goodness, this Emma Raducanu is good. She's just beaten the world number 41 6-0 6-1 to go through to the last 16.

Emma's past couple of matches have been incredible to watch. Very excited for her next one tomorrow, I think it's a shame that Ashleigh Barty went out really as playing the current world #1 would've been excellent experience for her and I think she could've put up a decent fight (but I was happily resigned to her losing)...but hey, perhaps an easier path to the quarter-final now..?!
Emma is a promising talent for sure but the media overhype is ridiculous. The did the same with Robson, Watson & Konta and look what happened to them...
Emma is hugely impressive again coming from 0-2 0-40 down to win 6-2 6-1. She will now play Belinda Bencic in the quarter-final which will be a tougher test.

I think this one is a little different. She clearly has greater ability than all three mentioned, but you need the mentality to make it as an elite tennis player.

Up against the Olympic Champion next, so I suspect this is where the fairytale ends this time around. But she does have a massive chance of pulling off an upset.

but Konta did very well, not everyone has to be #1

love how the youngsters are doing in this US Open

Konta is a good player but doesn't have the mental game. Often cracks at key moments and is awful with the media stuff.

I caught Emma's match last game and was very impressed. If she beat the player who beat Barty then she can definitely beat anyone.

She has the ability, but not the mentality. Clearly she is a very talented player though but she should have won a Slam by now. Like Dobbo said, she often buckles under the pressure.

I know, what I was trying to say is that she's done well enough

being top 10 is already a massive achievement, not everybody is #1 material

looking forward to see Alcaraz later today against Felix

young Canadians doing very well, was amazing to watch Fernandez, she played so so well, and Svitolina was playing good too so Fernandez won totally on merit

too bad about Alcaraz being injured and retiring...

Emma wins her quarter final 6-3 6-4. She's so accurate with her shots, rarely hitting the ball out or into the net. The more experienced players she's played haven't been able to work out how to beat her. She's the first qualifier to reach the US Open semi-finals.
