I can only reiterate what Graham has already said, you don't want to seem too upfront with them because as you said it could blow up in your face and you could never see her again. Just carry on what you're doing, can I ask how many times you have been to visit her? If it's not long then you must take your time, perhaps visit more often, so they know you're actually serious about her and don't think this is just a whim, so, if it's possible, visit her more, perhaps go to a hotel or something just overnight so they know what trouble and expense you've went to just to be with their daughter, and once they know how serious you are they may loosen the leash a bit. ;)
