A product of the new wave movement that grew up around the CBGB club in New York, Blondie were formed in 1974,taking their name from truck drivers who had shouted "Come on Blondie, give us a screw" at Harry.

Their debut album was Blondie, followed up with Plastic Letters which spawned their first hit single Denis. The 3rd album Parallel lines was more pop than punk, but gave us "hanging on the telephone,Picture this,Sunday girl and Heart of glass. Some of the best pop records of the 70's.

The follow up album Eat to the Beat gave us Dreaming,Union city blue,Call me and Atomic.

One of my favourite bands of the time,

Any other fans.

i was a big fan of the 60's sound, so my interest from about 69 - 77 in pop was very limited. punk however created the environment whereby the 60's sound could return... Blondie were one of the first groups to utilise this sound and i really liked their early material. 'plastic letters' and especially 'parallel lines' were excellant albums.

loved 'denis' which is of course a cover, 'picture this' , 'hanging on the telephone'.

not sure about the disco stuff though, 'heart of glass' was a good song, but not a personal fav.

didnt like their laters stuff though although their comeback single 'maria' was pure classic blondie, and 'good boys' in '03 was good too.

love this band alot

Denis, Call Me, Hanging on The Telephone, Tide Is High, Atomic, Heart Of Glass, and Maria

All my favourites :D

no mention of Rapture, which was the first crossover rap song?

I love Blondie - from start to present. Parallel Lines, Eat to the Beat, Plastic Letters, Autoamerican... even The Hunter had its great moments.

The newer 2 albums have been extremely patchy affairs, though - but even these have had some wonderful moments.

Deborah Harry - total icon, and looking great again right now, too..... her duet with Shirley Manson, Bounce Along, was a triumph recently.

I love Blondie, I even got Rob listening to 'Good Boys' cos he missed that song altogether so he has me to thank for that one. :D

Anyway I would just like to say that I agree with what Scott put 100% aswell.
