Elt and safety for Robbie

By THOMAS WHITAKER

Showbiz Reporter

December 15, 2006

ELTON JOHN hit the roof after Robbie Williams blabbed his hotel room number to thousands of fans at a gig.

But Sir Elton, who feared for his safety after the prank, got his own back by mocking Robbie’s decision to quit Take That.

He slipped a note under his door which read: “Dear Robbie, Take That . . . No1 single and album. Great result, love Elton.â€

The pair had been staying at the same hotel in Sydney. Sir Elton’s partner David Furnish, 44, revealed the spat.

He wrote in the Spectator magazine that he had just returned from Australia when he had a call from “a slightly irked Elton still Down Underâ€.

He said Sir Elton was still fuming at Robbie’s “irresponsible delinquencyâ€. But he told how he got his own back with the note and ended his article by saying: “Take That Robbie indeed.â€

The pair fell out in 2004 when Robbie bizarrely accused Sir Elton, 59, of trying to kidnap him to get him off drugs. They have hardly been on speaking terms since.

Sir Elton, below left, said in September: “Robbie should let this s**t go. If he can’t, he needs to see someone and talk about it.â€

Last night a pal of Sir Elton denied there was a rift, saying: “They were having a laugh.â€

Meanwhile, Robbie came under fire last night for smoking on stage in Brisbane.

Is it not apparent to anyone with half a brain that they were jesting with each other?

Stupid bloody sun. Honestly they are the most ignorant load of journalists on the planet

Well, at least Newton suggests in the end that maybe "they were only having a laugh".

But still, there is a lot of negativity in that article I think, doesn't really make Rob look good.

Probably Newton has grown out of her pro-RW phase and will join everyone else in "Hail TT, slag off Robbie"

:puke2: :arrr:

I wouldn't be surprised, I was already kind of expecting it.

Bless Sir Elt :)

Is he ever in the paper these days for anything other than complaining :)

Robbie's Kylie no-show a puzzler

December 18, 2006 12:00am

SATURDAY'S Kylie Minogue concert came and went, but there was no sign of her star pal, heart-throb Robbie Williams.

The Brit had been touted to sing duet Kids with Kylie on stage, but instead the pop princess's sister, Dannii, filled the spot.

And tickets that Williams had for the show were not used.

So, what busy scheduling kept Williams from appearing at Rod Laver Arena?

Apparently not much.

Williams was seen having a quiet drink at the Langham Hotel bar on Saturday evening after tussling with mates and the Melbourne Victory boys on the soccer field.

Maybe he was resting the vocal cords for his Telstra Dome gig last night.

The Kylie and Dannii duet had been a long time coming.

They last performed together onstage in Melbourne at the 1987 I Say No concert at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl.

They did a very Young Talent Time-esque rendition of the Pointer Sisters' Twist My Arm.

A few pics in the article as well...

ROBBIE WILLIAMS SHOWS OFF HIS FOOTIE SKILLS DOWN UNDER 19 DECEMBER 2006

Robbie Williams raised the roof at Melbourne's Telstra Dome venue when he played a spectacular concert for 64,000 adoring fans. The British pop star, who is currently in Australia for a series of concerts, received a rapturous reception when he stepped out onto the stage amid a whirl of smoke and pyrotechnics.

The 32-year-old was probably equally as pleased to be visiting the country as its residents were to have him there, because the trip gave him the opportunity to indulge his favourite pastime. After wowing locals with his musical abilities, the Angels singer took advantage of the warmer climes by playing a football match in the city's Olympic Park stadium.

The former Take That star, who is well-known for his life-long love of the game, takes to the field for a kickabout whenever he gets the chance. Earlier this year he even organised a charity match with many of the sport's biggest stars, in order to raise money for Unicef. The performer, who counts David Beckham and Wayne Rooney among his friends, owns a stake in first division team Port Vale FC, too.

Robbie might have been forgiven for feeling a little tired on Monday, though, as he is nearing the end of a lengthy world tour. He is then looking forward to a break from the stage, which will no doubt give him plenty of time to work on his footie skills.

WILLIAMS TO QUIT SMOKING ON NEW YEAR'S DAY

British pop star ROBBIE WILLIAMS has vowed to quit smoking for good on New Year's Day (01JAN07), despite currently inhaling 60 cigarettes daily. The RUDEBOX singer has always refused to ditch his unhealthy habit in the past because he fears he will pile on the pounds as a result. But he now says, "I smoke loads and I really don't want to any more. "I want to give them up for good in 2007 but I'm a fat bloke inside this body and the minute I stop smoking, I'll get even bigger." 19/12/2006 07:52

(Same story but we have a hypnotist now  )

Robbie Williams has vowed to quit smoking.

Robbie Williams

2006-12-19 16:49:31 -

The singer, who smokes up to 60 cigarettes a day, has already given up drugs and alcohol and now wants to kick another unhealthy habit.

Robbie - who was fined £60 for smoking onstage in Australia last week - is so desperate to quit nicotine he has even planned to visit a hypnotist on New Year's Eve.

He said: "I want to give them up for good in 2007. Seeing a hypnotist on New Year's Eve seems a good idea to me." The 'Angels' singer has made several attempts to give up cigarettes in the past including a fitness drive last summer.

However, Robbie gave into temptation after just a few weeks - because he was worried about piling on the pounds.

He admitted at the time: "I smoke loads and I really don't want to anymore.

But I'm terrified of giving up. I'm a fat bloke inside this body and the minute I stop smoking, I will put on weight." Robbie's tour rider includes four packets of cigarettes and four ashtrays.

The 32-year-old admitted this week he will never have children.

Robbie, who has suffered from depression, says he couldn't bear to see his children experiencing the same agonising lows as him.

In an interview with British magazine The Big Issue, he said: "I don't believe that to be fulfilled you have to have kids. What's the point? "I can't guarantee my child won't suffer pain - because that kid is going to be in pain at some point in their life. I don't want to see that. It's too much."

AUSSIE FANS STREAM OUT OF ROBBIE GIG

Eva Simpson & Caroline Hedley

WHAT has Robbie Williams and the England cricket team have in common? Neither have impressed the Aussies.

Hundreds of fans walked out of Robbie's Melbourne gig disappointed by the 32-year-old singer. The last leg of his world tour was also savaged by Australian critics.

One spat: "He failed to deliver or even resemble the energy and vibrance of past visits.

"He should hold true to his promise to retire." Ouch.

An extract

'This week, HMV became the latest retailer to blame Robbie Williams’s difficult album Rudebox for its profit warning. Apparently, 38,000 copies of the said LP were sold last week, compared with his previous effort, Intensive Care, which shifted 171,000 copies in the same week last year.

Robbie has his detractors, of course, but blaming him, even in part, seems a bit excessive. The nagging truth is that the music market is soft — down 14 per cent in the UK, according to HMV, including downloads; there is also weakness in the US, where the third quarter was down 7 per cent and the end of the year looks tough.

It was not supposed to be like this; the market was supposed to be returning to growth, with profit margins increasing as more people went digital. That future hasn’t gone away exactly, but neither has piracy, and the nagging fear is that recovery may be further off, which is worrying not just for the music business, but for all about to hit the digital wall.'

Robbie Williams Is Top Christmas Celebrity

22 December 2006

Robbie Williams tops the nation’s wish list as revealed by the YouGov poll of 2,571 adults to discover which celebrity we’d most like to spend the festive period with.

When it comes to Christmas day, the best most of us can hope for is a no-stress day with our families. However new research carried out by Disney Store in celebration of their Christmas Wishes campaign has uncovered that rather than a sweater knitted by Gran, most of us would wish for a celebrity or two to make the big day more eventful.

Closely following chart topper Robbie, the household name funny men such as Peter Kay (11.5% joint with Kylie), Jonathon Ross, Paul O’Grady and Ant and Dec dominate the results. Recent Disney Store findings have revealed that nearly two thirds (65%) of the population get stressed in the run up to Christmas – perhaps this is why we are looking for someone who can bring a giggle to the proceedings and help us relax when the day itself arrives?

Rounding up the poll in tenth place is Her Majesty the Queen, proving there is still a place for the royal family in our hearts in the festive season. But would they mind if she had to nip out after dinner to record her speech?

Results were as follows:

1. Robbie Williams – 14%

2. Peter Kay and Kylie joint – 11.5%

3. Paul O’Grady and Jonathan Ross joint – 10%

4. Gordon Ramsey – 7.5%

5. Jamie Oliver – 7%

6. Johnny Depp and George Clooney joint - 5%

7. Kelly Brook, Daniel Craig, David Beckham and Cliff Richard joint – 3%

8. Ant& Dec and Brad Pitt joint - 2%

9. Angelina Jolie and Carole Vordeman joint - 1%

10. The Queen – 0.5%

Conrad reaches out to Middle Eastern families

THE Conrad London is marketing itself to the Middle East as the ideal property for seasoned Arab travellers, says a hotel executive.

“The Conrad London is ideally suited to meet the Arab travellers’ hotel requests,†Kathleen Curran, the hotel’s director of sales and marketing told TTN.

“With our location on the Chelsea Harbour, we’re a tranquil, relaxing base for someone who’s been to London before, and is looking for quiet in the midst of the city.â€

It’s also great for someone hoping to meet popstar Robbie Williams, who lives in a building close by and often drops by to play the piano at the Aquasia bar.

The Conrad London is the only five-star all-suite hotel in the British capital, she says. Each of the property’s 160 suites has a spacious two-room layout and the hotel offers a a fair amount of interconnecting suites suitable for large families. Other advantages uniquely requested by guests from the Middle East are Arabic speaking staff, Arabic menus, high security and ample parking space, says Curran.

The Conrad offers six penthouse suites, 132 King bedded suites and 28 twin bedded suites, as well as two suites with facilities for the disabled. Among the standard in-room facilities are a safe to accommodate a laptop.

With a purpose-built two-level conference centre, the Conrad London offers 14 conference rooms and a selection of banqueting rooms, and is close to the events centres of Olympia and Earl’s Court. It has a fully equipped gym, heated indoor swimming pool with saunas, steam rooms and sunbeds and a massage and beauty room; and is close to golf courses, horseback riding facilities, a casino and tennis courts.

Situated on the harbour, the hotel will charter boats for guests or make available facilities for guests’ own.

The hotel has a wide variety of Christmas and New Year options, from traditional Christmas markets and parties to with bespoke Conrad Christmas stockings to private dining packages and a Moulin Rouge New Year’s do. Rates over the Christmas period begin at £179 ($342.5).

Conrad is Hilton International’s luxury brand. There are 20 properties around the world and the aim is to have 45 properties by 2010.

Now that I would love to see.

Sing me a Carol Robbie

Chocolatier Thorntons asked 2,000 Britons which celebrities they would like to see perform a Christmas carol especially for them and Robbie Williams and Charlotte Church topped their list.

Only 6% wanted reformed Take That star Gary Barlow to relight their fire.

Married couple Katie Price and Peter Andre, who have released a Christmas single, fared even worse with 3.4%.

Girls Aloud singer Cheryl Cole was last with just 3.3% of the vote.

The Top Six (and percentage of the vote)

1. Charlotte Church (27.9%)

2. Robbie Williams (26.3%)

3. Kylie Minogue (24.3%)

4. Gary Barlow (6%)

5. Katie Price and Peter Andre (3.4%)

6. Cheryl Cole (3.3%)
