According to a recent article tribute bands are becoming more popular,is this a good or bad thing?

Acts like Bjorn Again, the Illegal Eagles and the Bootleg Beatles are doing national tours of the UK when a few years ago they were the laughing stock of show business.

Have you or would you ever go and see a tribute band?

I've seen one or two pretty reasonable ones, The Australian Doors years ago and Sabbath Bloody Sabbath (Black Sabbath tribute band), but most are just pretty sh!te...

Mind you when you hear about bands such as Queen, Alice In Chains or The Doors taking it upon themselves to 'reform' without key members, well, who's to say what's worse....

i only think that tribute bands are acceptable if the originals are defunkt... a good tribute band has its place, however i personally wouldnt see one.
They are okay, as long as they do the original band justice, and like Rob says if they original band are no longer around or even alive then its a good thing I think.
I've seen a few Queen tribute bands and the best one didn't try to look like Queen, they just play the music well, they're obviously genuine fans. And don't get me started on Elvis 'tribute artists' I'm sure that there are a few good ones amongst the thousands out there, but so many seem to think that they can throw on a jumpsuit and they become Elvis  All they're doing is perpetuating an unfair image of the man. He was so much more than that, believe me!
There are so many tribute acts around now , I don't like them. They should do their own music. I saw a really c**p Robbie Williams :puke2:
