May I ask something the chart experts? How are the streams working towards double A side singles when it comes to single sales/certifications etc? When a double single has x amount of physical copies are the streams of the songs added to those sales? Are they counted as totally separate items or both songs are considered the sales of the physical and are added separately the streams? Also the downloads should have similar situation

I think track 1 downloads and streams are added to the double-a-side and track 2 downloads and streams are counted separately.

 

Interestingly, Last Christmas has a separate chart run to Last Christmas/Everything She Wants - but they still add the sales and streams to the original double-a-side.

So interesting to see that Apple Music is starting to create pop hits that Spotify are ignoring - almost wondering if Spotify refuse to playlist them out of spite. How much longer can they ignore Tom Grennan?

it's just been added to Hot Hits UK.

problem is Apple alone does not have enough streams to make you a hit.

Last year we had this dance cover by Punctual, went top 10 on Apple, but peaked at like #90 or something overall,

similar for the 2nd Topic single, didn't even go top 100.

Recently Diplo has also had a track being top 40 on Apple for weeks but has not troubled the charts.

it certainly helps though, this Tom Grennan single for example is doing nothing on Spotify but is likely to be officially top 50 mostly from its Apple Music streams.

sure it helps but it's not Apple alone
