You love the paparazzi, love the fame

| 14 // Fun Tonight // 7.06

A bit of a shock here as we're not having fun with Fun Tonight. The song is a Eurodance-fused track about self-reflection, and it is sung in an impassioned style to show the intense anxiety behind the lyrics. The song features an interesting structure, whereby it begins, leads into the chorus but almost is cut short before starting again. In the final section of the song however, it explodes into glorious synths and sounds and fully comes to life. A song of two halves that contrasts the title as Gaga repeatedly sings that she is in fact not having fun. It's another song in which Gaga expresses her anguish and pain alongside the dance-heavy production. It was rumours to be about her ex-fiancé, Christian Carino, but later, Gaga clarified that it is about herself. On Spotify Gaga added the following description: "When you listen to this song, imagine you're singing to yourself"

I was scared, but I believe in magic

With a hugely respectable average score, the final interlude is out! There was never any doubt that II would be the highest of the three; it was also the final piece to be composed for the album. It introduces the second act of the album and more significantly it introduces '911' in the now hugely memed and iconic drop. An interlude that spawned a tonne of memes across the internet and it still continues to do so! The interlude was included as part of Gaga's medley at the 2020 VMAs. On Spotify Gaga states: "I believe it's in the middle of our voyages as people that things become both terrifying and whimsical at the same time. I felt life was asking the impossible of me, which I think i'm not alone in thinking. So I was scared, but I believe in magic. So, I wrote this interlude as a reminder that my magic was working.".

I mean, a true moment? The fact the memes are still flooding in (including the Jackie Weaver ones this past week ) shows how impactful it has been!
Yes, and they should have milked this transition on TikTok, it would go viral very easily, but knowing her team, that was already expected.

There's loads of action around the transition on Tiktok, none has taken off significantly better than others.

The transition is of course amazing, not sure how the interlude would've fared here without it.

No action by Gaga or her team. It's the artist who has to start a viral and sell the product, not the public, see by Drake's Toosie Slide and In My Feelings, he was smart to promote and pay popular users on the platform to spread the trend there and then it fell into the audience's taste on the platform and then boom, more hits in his pocket.

I am human, invisibly bleeding

The final bonus track is out now - a piano rendition of a track from the main album. The song strips back the production from the original and presents it in a more raw and subdued way. It allows the lyrics of the already lyrically beautiful song to be felt and experienced and the pain in Gaga's voice is also more exposed. The track features as a bonus track on the deluxe version of the album and features some differences in the lyrics: "If I had a painter's mind, then I would paint it, or a sculptor's hands, then I would shape it. But instead, I guess I'll sing it in this song."

Good Tapestry-inspired ballad, it has its ups and downs (this alternative lyrics is a no for me). I prefer the album version tho.

Yeah I prefer the production on the original and the lyrics on that version too! This is a nice inclusion though (and better than the Angel Down demo that features on the deluxe Joanne album)!
Enigma to go next? Hopefully not Sour Candy...

:frankie:

Enigma is the best song on this whole album. I would be fuming!
