December 4, 200618 yr Well Robbie has said himself that he'll never go back to doing what he did before again as he's already covered that ground. He has nothing to lose hence why he's trying new things with the Rudebox album and tbh he's far more interesting than he was now imo as Rudebox was the first Robbie album I've bought in YEARS but as it's proven so far even though it's not as much as usual he's proven he can sell well because of who he is while doing what he wants to do i.e. something new rather than the same old stuff he's always been known for doing. With Take That however I think how this'll last will depend on how long they're all happy to keep doing this again basically.. but this album should do ok but judging by how good Robbie's next single is then if he's actually here to promote it then Robbie will have the bigger selling album but I'm sure neither are bothered about their sales that much really. I agree completelly. For anyone else out there Rudebox's sales are good, within 5 weeks it sold more than other big acts out there such as Justin, Xtina etc sold within that period, however by Robbie standards it is not doing as well in the UK as his previous albums for obvious reasons. I don't think his fans have left him or anything, he proved that by having the biggest tour this year, but the single Rudebox is a million miles away from the songs most of his fan base love him for. I wish he would promote the album though on TV etc to show the public not all the songs sound like Rudebox <_< Also he can't depend on his record company to promote it for him either. There was an article on msn.com the other day asking the question 'Is Robbie over'?, which just prves that alot of the public don't realise how big he is outside the UK. The press would lead you to believe he was hidding under the covers while TT were getting #1's when infact he is in Austrailia doing his sell out tour which happens to be the biggest tour in the history of the country  I definatly see TT outselling Rudebox, as it' would appeal to alot more people. I hate the way the press compare them though, they are a boyband and he is a solo artist  The only way the 3rd single off Rudebox will help the album is if he promotes it, I mean look at Sin Sin Sin, #22 and did nothing for the album
December 4, 200618 yr as i see her name mentioned the new christina aguilera album hasny done aswell as expected and like wise with beyonce, robie has sold well but not near as good as usual,so take that album has done quite well so far
December 4, 200618 yr Te most fabulous thing about Take That I have aways thought, is that together, they are far more than the sum of the four parts. It's like the Kylie thing you can't quantify. Somehow, when they are together they become something else. And it really helps that the songs are quality.
December 5, 200618 yr Thanks - maybe I can be clearer. Take That are greater then the sum of the four parts - together they just have that magic ingredient.
December 5, 200618 yr Author I agree fully. His solo stuff was to bland and he did'nt have enough charisma to last as a solo artist for a long period imo. I think TT may do another album after this but who knows, I dont think even they do. I think he had some very good songs before becoming bland. Forever Love is my idea of the perfect love song. That's when I first noticed who Gary Barlow was and followed his career. Madonna's Love Won't Wait was his most commercially viable upbeat song. Then it went downhill. His next Single So Help Me Girl was dreary and depressing, originally intended to help him break America and apart from Stronger (that was slagged off as a reaction to Robbie's Strong) what he released next was just too middle of the road boring, dull and forgettable. The real twist of the knife came when Radio 2 refused to play his songs and Woolworth said they would not stock his second album. He had a standout song on his second album called Lie to Me that was never released. I think he should stick that on the next Take That album. Also a song called Yesterday's Girl, an Irish influenced folk-song was a glimpse of his song-writing genius. But the rest was too bland and samey.
