I wasn't aware of the Texas album, I have now listened to some track previews and it sounds good. But some of the best and biggest hits and songs are not included and that just hacks me off as I'd like to hear them done that way. There's definitely space for them with album track numbers these days. That can't help sales.

Rule The World is on Wikipedia as 1.8m - not sure how reliable that is though.

It 'could' give some of the artists a chance at a top 40 placing which they will never get from streaming, in turn leading to slightly better and longer album chart runs due to the increased awareness. I guess if it becomes commercially viable it'll happen. I didn't realise it was to some degree (as per the other posts).

Just wondering, with album vinyls sales growing and disrupting the album chart, is there any chance singles may also take off (7" and 12')? They also work well as collectibles, are cheaper, good up-sales for online stores (particularly artist own stores I think) and may plug gaps in factory production schedules? I would welcome something that could mix things up with sales. Having said that, I probably wouldn't buy any. I have about 200 albums from the 80s and 90s, but have not bought one since the resurgence started.

I've moved to the States and while I will continue to keep up with Buzzjack :-), I am looking for a US equivalent. I have found Pulse Music Boards which seems similar and I might try that, but just wondering if anyone has any recommendations? Merry Christmas! Thanks

John Grant.....but sometimes I think people are exactly where they want to be, he probably did 'happen'. Ben Platt....could still 'happen' in a mainstream way (although I also think the level of musical success is pitched about right with the tv, films and theatre).

Not sure if been mentioned, but I also think in the back of the OCCs mind they want to stop As It Was having a ridiculous streak at number one (20+ weeks or something) and this way puts a positive spin on it and the focus elsewhere. Also, the rules are silly anyway but I like the new peak auto-reset as an option IF acr has to stay.

Some of us remember working hard to buy tickets for the 25 Wembley shows. For more to then be released. Then she can cancels some of the first shows released while some of the second shows released go ahead. When she already had previous form for cancelling. Streams sales from me for this new shiz. Zero. Who cares? Probably only me 😂

I'm not really sure if this makes sense.....but instead of downweighting streams, why not upweight sales? For example, an album sale equals 10 chart points and an album stream 1 chart point etc. I think this would mean the top end of the chart would be kept fresher with new releases, and it'd even out further down. I think this would reduce the impact of passive streams at the top of the chart. I get that some fanbase acts would probably release different versions over a few weeks for multiple fan sales, but there's less of an impact with that I think, and a person at least has to actively buy multiple copies.

All things are not equal.

I have bought Dua Lipa...I hated her last album (not a huge fan of her voice), but as I am stuck at home working all day it's worth a try at £3.99 as the reviews and clips are good (I don't Spotify). There's no way in hell I'd have paid full price so the chart battle has worked on me! 1 point to Dua Lipa. However, I know there will be like 8 other versions of the album coming with new songs and I already know that will annoy me later on as I'll have the inferior version.

Not sure of the numbers, but Brit Award winners Five Star :D seemed to always be in the charts for many years...

Where would 'Yesterday' chart - artist or compilation?

I've heard of this rule but just ignored it really.... It makes no sense to me. Mixes may be different. Track order will be different. Quality may be different. Loads of etcs. It's like saying that if 1,000 CD copies of Bohemian Rhapsody are sold, in one week and 1,001 CD copies of Queen's Greatest hits are sold the same week, that the Greatest Hits CD will be attributed 2,001 sales!

^^^ It's all just a joke and a mess. ACR. Resets. Streaming points paid/unpaid. YouTube streams. Mariah was number 1 but wasn't number one (I'm not particularly a fan of Mariah or Ellie - just a fan of fairness)! Not sure how to fix it though. So much of the fun is been sucked out of it as manipulation is just too dominant.

Loads of vinyl in Ocean Terminal (Edinburgh) and I find Westfield White City is usually reasonably decent. There's something experiential missing though - and if I was an expert I'd put my finger on it but I'm not. Maybe they just need to darken the stores a little and do some funky lighting or something - doesn't have to be expensive, just to zhush it up a bit. Even allow a take away coffee bar or something to bring in people (as there is no stopping the coffee)!

Both Idina Menzel's and Ben Platt's versions of River are superior. I'd care - and I can accept streaming points + sales for chart positions - except this ACR thing is beyond ridiculous!

Unbreakable is such a brilliant album, 15,000 sales or 15m. I think so anyway.... (am also a massive fan of Control, RN1814 and All For You).
