Biography

Nathan Evans

Nathan Evans is a Scottish singer known for singing sea shanties. Evans first gained fame in 2020, when he posted videos of himself singing sea shanties on social media service TikTok, triggering a surge of interest in sea shanties. - Wikipedia

220 KID

220 KID is a producer/writer/DJ and artist from the UK. The 220 KID name was born after running 220 miles in bright pink pants for charity, after his beloved Godfather passed away. And after running that 220 miles he knew anything was possible. He was soon scouted as a model and has worked for the likes of Vogue, GQ, Nike, Reebok and many more, whilst continuing to develop and perfect himself as an established writer/producer. Over the past two years 220 KID has been working with Grammy nominated producer Grades, One Bit, Camden Cox, Billen Ted, Danny Shah, Jackson, and the infamous Scott Storch (Pink, Christina Aquilera, Beyonce, Snoop Dogg, Dre, Sean Paul) to name a few. His broad musical ability has allowed him to write and produce with a wide range of artists also, such as Clean Bandit, Alpines, Frenship, Walking On Cars, Sheppard, and Camelphat, He has most recently been working with Daniel Skye, Jess Boykins III, Amanda CY, Gracey, Maverick Sabre, Bryn Christopher and Ivy Adara. Unquestionably 220 KID has a wide range of production skills, from epic string work to dirty house base lines. Alongside his fresh style of lyrical writing, he has the ability to make any pop song that little bit more ‘cool’. He's certainly one to watch. - Spotify

Billen Ted

Billen Ted are a production / writing duo working out of Ealing Studios, London. The duo, previously from Death Metal bands, have spent the last few years transitioning to dance and pop music and have produced / written records for the likes of 220 Kid (Don't Need Love), Hugel (WTF), MNEK, Sleepwalkrs and Melanie C amongst others. They have just released their first record Satisfied, paying homage to the late Prince by doing a feel good version of 'I Feel For You' - Spotify

Biography

Hi!!! My name is Olivia!! I'm a songwriter, an actress, and a huge Swiftie. Writing music is my favorite thing in the whole world. I've been doing it ever since I can remember. My parents have old VHS videos of me making up ridiculous songs when I was too young to even know how to write words. I've always loved telling stories and songwriting is the perfect medium to tell them in a really vulnerable, personal way. You might have heard my song “All I Want” that I wrote for Highschool Musical the Musical the Series, which is a show I also get to act in. I wrote that song in my living room during finals week of sophomore year. I was truly just so grateful the producers of the show let me have any part in making the music, I didn't think about anyone hearing it let alone liking it. The outpouring of support the song got was insane. I know people write songs to make their listeners feel less alone but reading everyone's stories and reactions to the song actually made ME feel so seen. It was an experience I wouldn't trade for the world. The song has opened up so many doors for me and as I'm writing this, I am putting the finishing touches on my first EP. Figuring out what I want my own music to sound like has been hella challenging but so much fun. I still write songs in my bedroom almost every day too. I learn more about myself and songwriting every day, and I think that's so fun. I feel really lucky. I'm so stoked for the future and I feel so grateful that I get to make music. - Spotify

I wonder how Rita Ora’s BIG will fair next week. It’s such a smash.

I'd expect it's more likely to grow into being a hit, particularly with no R1/Capital support yet, or Hot Hits.

Boooo! Wellerman should've been no. 1! I now hate drivers license cause it's like positions ruining other songs chance at no. 1.

Biography

There’s purpose in Dua Lipa’s euphoric pop. “For me, it’s about championing women and putting ourselves in the position of power,” the singer told Apple Music in 2020, ahead of the release of her second album, Future Nostalgia. “I have been inspired by the female alphas that have shown me that we can do it. And that we can wear the pants, you know? We need more of that in music.” Forcing the world to get a little more comfortable with female alphas has been a mission statement for Lipa (born in London to Kosovar Albanian parents in 1995) since her 2017 self-titled debut. It housed the triumphant breakup smash “New Rules”, the self-love anthem “IDGAF” and the assured “Hotter Than Hell”—songs which made it clear that this was no ingénue, but rather an outspoken, effortlessly cool face of pop’s future. Indeed, that status was cemented a year later when Lipa made history as the first female solo artist to receive five BRIT Award nominations. She won two and, in 2019, added two Grammys to her mantelpiece.

Despite the success of her debut, Lipa wasn’t interested in recreating its hits. “People always say, ‘The second album is really scary,’ but for me, it’s more scary to go back into the studio and try to create something like ‘New Rules’ or ‘IDGAF’ over and over again,” she said. “I feel like I’d end up in a vicious cycle of trying to get somewhere but never being able to mature as an artist.” And so, to move forward, she pivoted to the past, drawing on disco and funk—and filtering it through her ahead-of-its-time pop—to arrive at Future Nostalgia. Decadent and every bit as empowering as those early hits, it brought Lipa her first Mercury Prize nod, multiple Grammy nominations and a rightful place in pop’s upper echelons. And with it, too, came Lipa’s new purpose. Released just as the world went into lockdown amid the coronavirus crisis, Future Nostalgia became an urgent tonic for tough times—danced to in living rooms across the world. Yet Lipa wasn’t done there: Five months later, she unveiled Club Future Nostalgia, a thrilling remixed version on which the singer teamed up with club queen The Blessed Madonna, and guests including Madonna, Missy Elliott, Gwen Stefani and Mark Ronson, to bring lockdown-fatigued listeners another dose of escapism. “I didn’t think I’d be putting albums out during a global pandemic,” added Lipa. “But it’s just about creating experiences for everyone at home. That’s the most important thing for me now.”

All of this, of course, is only just the beginning. “I really feel like I’m finding my feet,” said Lipa. “I feel so proud of Future Nostalgia as a whole and the most confident and the most myself making it. But I’m already planning the next move.” - Apple Music

Biography

Rita Ora

On early singles like “Hot Right Now” with DJ Fresh and her own 2012 smash “How We Do (Party)”, Rita Ora exudes the headstrong confidence and swagger of an artist who knows exactly what she’s about. She also knows what she can do with a voice that fits just as well with lovelorn ballads as it does with full tilt party-starters. That combination of positivity and versatility has helped make Ora—born Rita Sahatçiu in Prishtina in the former Yugoslavia, in 1990—one of the most successful British female solo artists ever. And even though her troubles with her first record label led to a long delay for the follow-up to her 2012 debut Ora, she filled the gap with feature appearances on tracks by Iggy Azalea, Charli XCX and Avicii, along with a stream of UK Top 10 singles such as the dreamy “Anywhere” and “For You”, a duet with Liam Payne for the soundtrack of Fifty Shades Freed. (Her role in the steamy screen franchise as Christian Grey’s sister gave her another chance to show off her glamorous side.) In 2018, Ora released Phoenix, an apt title given her determination to survive any storm and come out sounding as fierce and forthright as ever. - Apple Music

David Guetta

From his early days playing Chicago house in French discotheques to his long reign atop the pop charts, David Guetta has revolutionised dance music multiple times. Born in Paris in 1967, Guetta began DJing in the late ’80s, when the shimmery sound known as the “French touch” was taking shape. By the early 2000s, at his F*** Me I’m Famous parties in Ibiza, he had translated that melodic style into a clever merger of pop sass and club swagger. He parlayed that mix into pure platinum with hits like 2003’s “Just for One Day”, an energy-stoking rework of David Bowie’s “Heroes”, and 2002’s “Just a Little More Love”, a sultry bump-and-grind featuring R&B singer Chris Willis. That versatility—along with a knack for killer hooks—would become one of Guetta’s principal calling cards, and as EDM exploded across pop culture at the end of the 2000s, Guetta’s shapeshifting style led the way, yielding ecstatic affirmations (“When Love Takes Over”), feisty come-ons (“Sexy Bitch”) and unstoppable singalongs (The Black Eyed Peas’ “I Gotta Feeling”, which Guetta produced). Since then, his collaborations (Sia, Nicki Minaj) have kept listeners guessing even as his choruses—triumphant as a bottle of bubbly blowing its top—have proven one of pop’s most dependable pleasures. - Apple Music

Imanbek

Kazakh DJ and producer Imanbek's futuristic dance-pop tracks are bright and hook-filled while exploring dark lyrical themes. The artist shot to attention with his 2019 remix of SAINt JHN's "Roses," which became an enormous viral hit and was certified platinum in over a dozen countries. Since then, the producer has released additional collaborations with several artists including Usher, Marshmello, Tory Lanez, and Rita Ora (2021's Bang EP). Imanbek Zeikenov was born in Aksu, Kazakhstan in 2000, and started playing guitar when he was eight. He began producing electronic dance music in 2017, and was all but unknown before he remixed Guyanese-American rapper SAINt JHN's 2016 single "Roses." Officially released three years after the original version of the song, Imanbek's club-friendly remix exploded in popularity, partially due to exposure through TikTok, where it received over four billion plays during a single month (April 2020). The track topped the charts in several countries, including Australia, Canada, and the U.K., and reached number four on the Billboard 200, eventually earning a Grammy nomination for Best Remixed Recording. A second remix of the track appeared, featuring a guest verse by J Balvin. Imanbek continued releasing material at a prolific rate throughout 2020, including the solo single "Dope" (on Spinnin' Records imprint Dharma Worldwide) and collaborations with Tory Lanez ("Blackout"), Afrojack and Gia Koka ("Hey Baby"), and Marshmello and Usher ("Too Much"), among many others. In 2021, Imanbek collaborated with Rita Ora on a four-song EP titled Bang. Its lead single, "Big," additionally featured rapper Gunna and EDM megastar David Guetta. - Apple Music

Why are you letting the chart dictate your enjoyment of songs? :P

drivers license is dull for me anyway.

#2 is still a great position for Wellerman :cheer:

Another week for Olivia, I don't mind the song tbh but it isn't one of my favourites.
