May 25, 20214 yr I'm so pleased that it's had a significant boost this week! I was also wondering whether it would ever make the Top 10, let alone the Top 5. It's evidently been bit of a slow burner compared to the instantaneous smashes released before and after, but it's got there in the end  Hopefully #4 is on the cards - currently only 389 sales behind Doja Cat.
May 29, 20214 yr The way this is going top three in America too, I thought it had no chance of repeaking!
June 1, 20214 yr This hit a new peak of #3 in the United States! There’s a possibility she could have the top 2 in the USA this week!
July 9, 20213 yr Olivia Rodrigo Adds Taylor Swift, St. Vincent, Jack Antonoff Co-Writes to ‘Deja Vu’ Trio co-wrote Swift’s Lover track “Cruel Summer,” whose bridge inspired Rodrigo’s Sour hit Olivia Rodrigo has been open about how much Taylor Swift’s “Cruel Summer” influenced her Sour single “Deja Vu.” Now she has made the connection official by adding Swift, Jack Antonoff, and St. Vincent as co-writers on the track. The songwriters have been added to the track’s Spotify and TIDAL metadata, with credit going to them over the song’s bridge. https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-ne...eja-vu-1193659/
July 31, 20213 yr @1421103886689918977 This suggests that Jack/Taylor didn't ask to be credited? But it's still curious that they were belatedly credited.
August 1, 20213 yr Jack Antonoff, an actual musician not knowing the difference between a BRIDGE and a MIDDLE-8. Arghhh :arrr: Is this an American thing?
August 1, 20213 yr I’m under the impression that the term middle 8 is more common in the UK, and that the majority of American writers and artists would refer to that section as being a bridge. Whereas what the UK would consider as being a bridge (between verse 1 and first chorus) is what American writers would likely refer to as being a pre-chorus. Although I think that term has become increasingly common here too. I think bridge makes more sense as the part between the verse and chorus, because that’s literally bridging the gap between those two sections. Whereas a middle 8 is a deviation, usually in the middle of choruses. So bridge as the terminology for that part doesn’t make as much sense imo.
