Posted March 28, 20214 yr I’m not even sure which genre forum to post this in and have searched a few forums for a thread so apologies if I’ve missed it but the new material from Laura is just  Great performance on Friday night on Graham Norton too. The new album is her third coming five years after her sophomore release ‘The Dreaming Room’. “Safe Passage” lt0w1LDMlqc “Church Girl” live on Graham Norton 26/3/21 Mj0lMYflV5M Edited March 28, 20214 yr by WhoOdyssey
March 29, 20214 yr I'm looking forward to this, it's a big change of direction for her but I think it works! Such a great voice though, I think she could get away with any style she wanted.
June 17, 20214 yr Oh this is absolutely gorgeous! Not sure why Simon's not credited though 9rX3TFjduDw
July 2, 20214 yr Author Loving this album on first spin! The ‘What Matters’ track with Simon Neill is class!
July 2, 20214 yr Rarely post on here now but any chance to discuss Laura I’ll take. I’ve always loved Laura’s voice so I’m very excited to play this in full tonight! I heard Green Garden by accident in 2013 and since then I’ve loved her. One of our best talents it’s a shame she never really exploded but I’ve noticed that she’s very popular with critics and does have a following. Intrigued at the sound of this. I love that she’s an artist who references her religion in her music too but in a way what’s very authentic to her and not at all try hard. Hoping she can sneak another top ten album with this!
July 2, 20214 yr I'm absolutely loving this on first play through, it's so joyous and striking. Such a change for her too, she really has that voice that can pull anything off
July 3, 20214 yr Got Me really is as close as anyone’s come to the Quincy Jones production on Bad, such a good homage
July 3, 20214 yr I’m loving this as a whole album. Her first two albums are lovely listens but this is just a step above those and has already (in my humble opinion) become her best album! What a voice she has. The sound of this though really suits her voice and it’s really cohesive as a whole piece too. A risk to change sound like this but it’s definitely a risk what’s paid off. I had Janelle Monae vibes at places on this album. Very tempted to buy a physical copy of this now. I really hope she’s able to get herself a top 10 album with this. Definitely agree with Dandy. Got Me is very MJ sounding and has that classic production feel throughout its a real highlight on the album
July 3, 20214 yr It's a fantastic album, I can only echo what's been said above - so different for her but she pulls it off amazingly! Got Me is my favourite on a first play, hadn't heard that one before today!
July 3, 20214 yr Am I right in saying as well that she’s now with a new label? Whoever she’s with now seem to be handling her very well! I’ve seen her more on TV doing promo for this era than I ever did during the first two eras. Her first two albums a lot of the hype for her seemed to be across online forums and critics (and a lot of iconic musicians too have very positive things to say about her I know Elton loves her and Princes does) that’s how I ended up stumbling across her actually when I was reading an article about Prince (so glad I did). She’s such a talent! Her voice is heavenly she could sing anything and I’d be sold but this sound and her vocals just shine!
July 3, 20214 yr Yup that's right! RCA dropped her after The Dreaming Room came out (via a forwarded email ), she's now with Atlantic! I'm so glad another label's investing in her and allowing her to explore a new sound and vision, it's paid off critically even if it doesn't amount to much commercially.

July 4, 20214 yr This album is incredible  I am totally blown away by her soaring vocals and that glorious 80s production. 'Safe Passage' is one of the most hard hitting album openers I've heard in ages and then the rest of the album does not let it down. Think I'm going to be obsessing over this for the coming weeks
