I was gutted Something New didn’t make number 1 at that time - Troublemaker!!!

 

Still, it joins the great list of songs that peaked at number 2.

Also compared to the already mentioned Headlines, but also MKS's Flatline or All Saints' Rock Steady comeback single.

 

I disagree. "Rock Steady" felt bigger imo.

I'd say "underperformance" covers it, #2 shows there was some interest in it even if the chart run proves it was limited but it's held up as one of their most consistently popular tracks so I don't think it was a misfire (unlike the follow-up "single")

Its definitely benefiting from one of their most consistent trickle sellers and its nice that it has a high peak of Number 2 aswell which on paper makes it look a bigger hit than it might have been.
