LIFE STYLE EXTRA (UK) - Girls Aloud and the Sugababes are teaming up to record a song for next year's Comic Relief.

The eight-piece group are currently in the studio recording the unknown track to be released as the appeal's official tune.

A source revealed: "Its amazing getting these two bands to record together, they will be the ultimate girl group. It is going to be hot."

The girls, part of two of the most successful pop bands in the UK, are halfway through recording the vocals - rumoured to a cover of a well-known hip hop classic - with a video to follow.

Meanwhile Sarah Harding has compared herself to Amy Winehouse.

The Girls Aloud singer has a reputation for heavy drinking and wild partying but says she doesn't want to go into rehab.

Sarah, 25, said: "I haven't got an alcohol problem, so I don't need to go to the Priory - just yet!

"If my management said I had to go to rehab I would probably do what Amy Winehouse did - go down to see what it's all about and then say, 'No!'

"I haven't got an issue. If I was an alcoholic I'd be wanting a drink in the morning, wouldn't I? And I'm drinking mineral water today!"

Do you think the Sugababes will come off better for it though?

I think it may well harm their credibility, but the fact that it's a hip-hop track sounds sweet :o

might manage to get some of the small minded fans who like one and think the other is the worst in the world get a reality check

pour example from the pop forum:

Anyone who honestly, truly thinks Girls Aloud are better than Sugababes needs a serious reality check....

at least you don't insult the GA fans

I  GA

I like the Sugababes

and I'm seeing both at Newcastle next year. Can't wait :D and if this did happen I would be rather pleased :D

This will be interesting to see.

I just hope they don't go & cover the obvious "Walk This Way" classic track by Aerosmith & Run DMC.

Personally, I would like to see them cover either Salt'n'Pepa's "Push It" or the breakthrough hit by the greatest ever girl-group IMHO - TLC "Ain't Too Proud To Beg".

What hip-hop classic would you like to see them cover?

I don't think it will harm their credibility at all, for a girl group Girls Aloud are quite respected, as are Sugababes - so neither of them are working with someone they should be ashamed of recording with.

Plus it's for charity, so people will forgive them if it's poor for that very reason :D Probably...

I would like to see them sing No Scrubs, imagine a Destiny's Child cover? Independant Woman? Survivor?

sounds brilliant!, comic relief is march isnt it?

A few people seem to think that Girls Aloud are quite "cool" these days

But it is for charity, and Sugababes will do a mighty job I'm sure, but they are the better musicians

Well Girls Aloud aren't musicians ;)

tbh I'd do anything to see that

Sugababes + Girls Aloud = MASSIVE
