2500 MORE ROBBIE TICKETS ON SALE FOR DUBAI

Another 2,500 tickets for Robbie Williams’ concert in Dubai will go on public sale next week, The One, the event’s main sponsors, announced last night. The One, the home fashion store, said it had dhs 195 and dhs 395 tickets to sell as part of its sponsorship arrangements.

The tickets, limited to two per person, will go on sale at The One’s Jumeirah and Abu Dhabi stores at 10am on Friday April 14 – a week before Robbie performs at Nad Al Sheba.

Thomas Lundgren of The One said last night: “As the title sponsor of the Robbie Williams concert, we jumped on the opportunity to pre-buy a bunch of tickets, to give our The One fans who missed out another chance to see the number one entertainer in the world today.

We’ll be selling them the old, traditional way, not through the Internet, with all the fun and excitement that goes with it.†When sales of Robbie Williams tickets first went on sale, on March 8, the response was a UAE phenomenon, with all available tickets sold within three hours.

But organisers faced complaints that some people bought handfuls of tickets to re-sell later on the black market or on internet auction sites like ebay. One ticket with a face value of dhs 395 attracted bids of more than dhs 2,000.

And the Robbie concert continued to attract controversy this week when Dubai 92 DJ Chris Fisher pulled off an April Fool’s stunt, joking with listeners that the concert had been called off.

Some claimed they had cancelled flights and hotel bookings as a result.

Robbie Williams tickets selling fast

April 5, 2006

Gird your loins Robbie Williams fans, if you have one of those precious golden circle tickets for Monday night's concert and you are planning on being up close and really personal against the crash barrier of the pit, you'd better come up with a good excuse to take Monday off.

At the time of writing, sales of tickets stand at 39 844. Capacity is 40 000. Due to the huge interest in the concert and all those fans just dying to get to the front to see their idol, "holding areas" for those queueing early will be open outside the Absa Stadium from 10am on Monday

.

The areas will have toilet facilities and catering and arm bands will be issued to help those who get there early to claim their rightful position once they get in the stadium.

Gates open at 5pm. Support act Wire Daisies, from Cornwall, go on at 6.30pm followed by Freshly Ground at 7.45pm and the man himself will take it away at 9pm.

Williams has been rehearsing this week in Cape Town, while, reportedly partying with the likes of model Minki van der Westhuizen, at the Mount Nelson Hotel.

I really can't believe ther's just 5 days to go before this tour kicks off. As yet I'm still not sure where or when I'll be seeing him as I'm one of the many who was supposed to be seeing him at Wembley.

Well, I hope he's ready, and I wish him lots of luck as he starts off what should be an amazing few months. I'm so looking forward to reading those first reviews! :D

Hulio, sorry to hear you're still not know when you gonna see Robbie.

I'm gonna see him in June hopefully....That's if the "Amsterdam Arena" doesn't collapse

hulio - we will see him I'm sure ^_^

(Desparately trying to be positive about my Wembley tickets :( )

I am looking forward to all the reports from South Africa.

Will be sooo jealous when all the UK dates start though - we need some official new soon

I know. I really can't wait to read the SA reports. Want to know what he sang, what he wore, what his 'big entrance' was, how he sounded. Everything!!!!! :cheer:

You are right there Jupiter. I have to say I am a bundle of nerves....does anyone else get nervous...or is it just me being over protective

Robbie Williams concert organisers say no sale of ‘fake tickets’

DUBAI  The organisers of the Robbie Williams Concert scheduled on April 21 at the Nad Al Sheba Race Course, have denied the report published in a local daily yesterday saying that fake tickets for the ‘sold out’ show are circulating in the UAE.

A spokesman of Midas, the concert promoters, told Khaleej Times that there is no evidence so far regarding the forged tickets circulation and the report in the newspaper is baseless.

“I was surprised to see a report like this. I contacted the newspaper office and they failed to give any kind of proof for the circulation of forged tickets,†he said, stating there is no evidence to the newspaper claim.

He pointed out that this kind of propaganda only causes confusion and has nothing to do with the fact. “The arrangements for the show are continuing. We do not think there are any forged tickets circulating in the market. If we get any evidence, we will inform the authorities concerned in the UAE and necessary action will be taken,†he disclosed.

The official urged the fans of Robbie Williams who have already purchased the show tickets not to panic. “Nobody with the show tickets will be locked out. The fans of Robbie in Dubai will have a great day,†he assured.

Meanwhile, the Midas spokesperson confirmed that about 2,500 tickets of the Robbie William Concert will go on sale from today. The tickets belong to one of the sponsors of the show who has decided to put on sale his quota of tickets received by his company against the sponsorship for the event. The 2,500 tickets are part of the total 25,000 tickets printed for the show.

He pointed out that the sponsor’s decision to sell his quota of tickets to the general public is in the wake of a big demand from the fans of Robbie Williams who were unable to get any tickets that went on sale last month, and were a complete sellout within a few hours on the first day.

Robbie tickets missing

Organisers scramble after Royal Mail loses 400 orders

April 6, 2006

By Sally Scott

AS many as 1 600 tickets for the three Robbie Williams concerts in South Africa have been lost by Britain's Royal Mail.

The tickets, bought by South African fans from William's Inner Sanctum "priority access" website, went missing and the South African organisers, Big Concerts, were yesterday scrambling to ensure fans whose tickets disappeared would still get to see the superstar in concert.

Although not involved with the ticket sales, Big Concerts marketing manager Michael Anetakis said he had been in e-mail contact with the London office of Inner Sanctum and had been advised a Royal Mail bag containing "400 orders" had gone missing.

Fans were allowed to order a maximum of four tickets per order through the website. While it is not clear how many tickets went missing, the Daily News was told most people ordering tickets through Inner Sanctum had taken the maximum number.

The 400 orders were for tickets for all three concerts. It is not clear how many fans attending the concert on Monday in Durban have been affected by the lost Royal Mail bag.

Anetakis said the matter was being investigated as a "matter of urgency". Organisers also planned to contact those fans who had bought the missing tickets and they would be given a special code to use to gain entry to the concert on Monday.

The fans who signed up to become members of the exclusive Inner Sanctum website were charged £25 (R265). They were told that the fee would give them priority purchasing powers, including the opportunity to buy tickets for concerts before the tickets even went on sale to the general public.

The joining fee included an exclusive T-shirt for each person buying from the site. Johannesburg couple Wendy and Richard Adams decided this was the route they would take and duly paid their fee to join the club and then paid for two Golden Circle tickets.

"The T-shirt, only one, eventually came and we had to pay customs duty," explained Wendy, "but that was all that came."

"My husband kept saying, don't worry the tickets will arrive and we even rang London a few times, which is expensive of course, to check on the progress, but to no avail.

"At one point we were told by a woman at the London number that the tickets had been sent but had gone missing. Then a friend in Durban, who is also waiting for tickets told us she had heard at her hairdresser that the batch of tickets had been stolen in the mail.

"We don't know what to believe now, but I can tell you this, we are going to that concert if we have to cause a riot at the gate!"

The site states: "Subscribers are provided with a wealth of exclusive content and offers not available to non-subscribers."

Advanced priority access to tour tickets in advance of the general public is also offered.

Asked to intervene on behalf of those still empty-handed fans, Anetakis said although purchase of tickets from the site was nothing to do with his company, he would not be happy if any paid-up fan did not get to see the concert.

When the Daily News called the London office of Inner Sanctum, a woman named Sam answered. She declined to give her surname and said she was unable speak to the press, but that there were discussions going on in a bid to resolve the problem.

There was no one available to comment, but "you will get an

e-mail from us", she said.

The concert on Monday has almost been sold out with 40 000 fans expected to attend the show.

Well that sounds like a right cock up doesn't it!! LOL!

I'd be having kittens if I was waiting for a ticket and it'd "gone missing"

@ Dory, yes, I'm sure we'll see him, just wish they'd hurry up and let us know when and where now!

Really really kicking myself about having to turn down the Dublin ticket now  Especially if he postpones Wembley til next year, then I won't see him at all

So if anyone has a Dublin ticket going spare let me know!! LOL! (Well, it was worth a try! ;) )

Stadium poised for stars

Alex Murdoch and Rosemary Odgers

April 08, 2006

BRISBANE is set to lure big-name music acts such as the Rolling Stones, Madonna, Robbie Williams and Bon Jovi when Suncorp Stadium opens to concerts later this year.

Music promoters yesterday said Brisbane would no longer be automatically bypassed by superstars who had shunned the city because smaller venues meant they could not recover production costs.

Their comments came as Premier Peter Beattie confirmed three concerts would be allowed to play at the 52,500-seat stadium every year under controversial new laws.

Critics immediately accused Mr Beattie of breaking a promise not to allow concerts in a bid to limit noise and traffic problems.

When the Government overrode Brisbane City Council to approve its Lang Park redevelopment in 2001, strict conditions were laid down, including no open-air concerts and a limit of 24 major sporting events a year.

In justifying the decision, Mr Beattie said the stadium was presently set to host only 18 "major events", attracting crowds of more than 25,000 people, an indication it may not be raising enough revenue.

"Local residents can rest assured that there will not be a rock band at the ground every week," he said.

"There will be a maximum of only three concerts at the venue every year plus an allowance for one religious assembly."

But local trader Anne Boccabella said there were already 29 events planned for the stadium this year.

"This means for another four days a year we can't have parking for clients (and) residents can't have friends over because of the parking restrictions when events are on," she said.

Several big-name performers and bands have bypassed Brisbane in recent years because of inadequate facilities.

Promoter Michael Chugg said with Suncorp Stadium now available, he would reconsider bringing Robbie Williams to Brisbane as part of a possible Australian tour later this year.

"Acts like U2, the Rolling Stones, Robbie Williams, Madonna and the big stadium bands like Bon Jovi won't play an indoor show because the size of their productions and the logistics just don't allow it to happen, and because they can't get the gross (revenue) to pay for these events," he said.

"The Brisbane Entertainment Centre holds 10,000 to 11,000 people, Suncorp holds more than 50,000 and that's the bottom line."

Ticketing and sponsorship manager for U2 promoter Michael Coppel Presents, Roger Field, said it was always great to have a new venue open up.

"With varied choices in Melbourne and Sydney, it's very good for Brisbane to have a new facility that's a different mode and a different size to what's currently available," he said.

U2 was to have played at the Queensland Sport and Athletics Centre (formerly ANZ Stadium) at Nathan last month before the Australian leg of the band's Vertigo tour was postponed due to illness.

Can anyone tell me the time difference between the UK and South Africa, so I can think about him going on stage at 9pm their time. Daft I know, but I will be willing him on.
