Thanks for the photos guys. The stage looks great but i have a feeling it will be alot bigger in Europe

There seems to have been a lot of guys at the SA concerts ( at least looking at the photos :) )

Unless of course the women there are very butch :o

I like to see guys at his gigs. It means he is moving away from the 'Robbie we love you and want to marry you and have your babies and you're so sexxxxxy' screaming female fanbase.

Oops. Just realised I've described myself

FLU HIT ROBBIE BATTLES ON

Sick star triumphs as tour kicks offhttp://usera.imagecave.com/robstwo/cropped.jpg

Brave Robbie Williams battled a brutal dose of flu to open his world tour in typical flamboyant fashion.

He was laid low with a vicious strain of the bug after spending the past fortnight in South Africa preparing for his big night.

But the consummate entertainer was determined not to disappoint the 20,000 packed into Green Point Stadium and ignored all pleas to pull out of the show.

I'm told: " it was touch and go whether Robbie was going to be well enough to play in front of all those people.

"His show is a two-hour marathon and you've really got to be in good shape to get through it.

"He didn't want to let anyone down and much against many people's advice he ploughed on. Thankfully he pulled off a blinder".

Robbie kicked off the barnstorming set with fizzing versions of Radio and Rock DJ. Then he dived into another 18 career spanning tracks.

It wasn't all plain sailing though. It appears the years of partying are catching up. Halfway through, a puffed out Robbie said: " I don't know how Mick Jagger does this, I am 32 and I'm knackered. He's like 110 or something."

The audience were treated to the Robster's trademark between-song banter - a Chris Martin impression proving particularly popular.

But it was the encore of Angels that proved the biggest hit of the evening.

Those summer shows over here are looking more and more enticing aren't they?

Thanks Susie. I have never heard Rob say he was knackered before though. I always wondered how he could smoke as much as he does and stil be able to perform to way he did at Knebworth. :o

Robbie, as you know Scotty always puts alot of energy into his performances, I suspect being unwell probably caused the fatigue to set in early, I know he shouldn't smoke, or smoke as much as he does, but I don't think smoking would be the cause really.

And sometimes Robbie says these things for affect. :D

I also laughed at the attendance figs in that press article. underestimated by half. <_<

yes i laughed at that too....20,000!

great scan...thanks Susie. :)

Tomorrow he performs his final gig in South Africa, then its on to Dubai. I hope we can do what we have been able to do for both of the last 2 shows and tune in to SA radio for feedback. :cheer:

hello, I am back, I bet you did not miss me LOL. I don't know what happened but I could not get on the site  Today my computer has started to behave it's self.

I love this picture it just says it all for me, taken in South Africa. The Appeal of Robbie  .

Robbie sets Cape Town on fire

April 17th

By Anél Powell

Robbie Williams made good on his chart-topping song's promise when he entertained a 35 000-strong crowd at the packed Green Point Stadium in Cape Town.

From start to finish - almost two hours later - Williams enthralled the crowd on Thursday night with his energy, self-deprecating humour and witty impersonations of fellow performers, such as his own former boy band Take That and veteran singer Mick Jagger.

"How does he do it, I'm only 32 and I'm knackered," he said with an impish grin. It was interjections and interactions such as these that endeared the roguish rocker to the crowd.

"It feels as if he is singing directly to me," said one audience member.

That is the magic of Williams who, while a master entertainer, is by no means the world's best singer.

It's the immediacy and intimacy of his performance that made Thursday's concert a tour de force.

Local band Freshlyground, who must rate as South Africa's best national treasure since Madiba, warmed up the crowd.

The eclectic band never fail to impress, and their moving ballad I'd Like was a fitting end to their seven-set piece.

To chants of "Robbie", the diminutive rock star who has yet to crack the American music charts, appeared in a burst of flames and smoke on stage.

As expected, he promoted his new CD, Intensive Care, mixed with favourites such as Let Me Entertain You, Rock DJ and a snippet of the sexy Hot Fudge.

What Williams lacks in height, he compensates with his pervasive presence. He interacted with the crowd throughout, speaking glowingly of Cape Town and our hospitality. By turning the song Strong into a karaoke, the whole stadium got a chance to sing along.

He took a swipe at the media for reporting that he did not want to meet Nelson Mandela.

But the highlight of the evening was when he spotted a young boy in the audience with "Robbie" on his forehead.

Williams called the awestruck boy and his father, onto the stage, allowing them to watch his final song, Angel from the best seat in the stadium.

excuse me - diminutive, what he lacks in height..are these people real. No wonder there is constant debate on how tall Robbie actually is. <_<
On the whole very good reviews  . I am a bit ticked off by these reviewers saying he is not the world's best singer though  . No he is not Pavarotti or anything...but he'll do me just fine  .

Diminutive? He's over 6 foot tall for God's sake :o

How tall are the guys in SA?

Who can we E-Mail to complain?

could it be possibly that the critic never went to the show she/he was reviewing. Probably.

because

a. He would have seen how tall he is compared to other band members.

b. He would not say he did not have the best voice either. Robbie has one of the best, most powerful, light and shade vocals around. Performing live proves that.

I hope you do too. Liamgazzq, and welcome, nice to see you  Keep coming back here, we will get you the latest info on tickets.

Robbie enwraptures it up

JOHANNESBURG – Sixty-one thousand screaming Robbie Williams fans experienced “the concert of a lifetime†at Loftus Versfeld last night, as the British pop superstar wrapped up the South African leg of his world tour with a dramatic flourish.

Williams dazzled the capacity crowd with his winning blend of showmanship and solid pop tunes, including Let Me Entertain You, Come Undone, Angels and Tripping.

Reacting to rumours that he had refused to meet Nelson Mandela, Williams dismissed these as “fabricated bull****â€Â, adding that Madiba was “one of the most beautiful people in the worldâ€Â.

Bantering freely with the adoring crowd during the show, he led them in “world record†attempts at the biggest group burp and the biggest karaoke sing-along during his rendition of Strong.

Last night the crowd went wild when Williams came on stage and proceeded to prove why his stage presence has often been compared to that of the late Freddie Mercury.

He scotched rumours of a fling with “gorgeous†SA model Minki van der Westhuizen, saying tongue-in-cheek that she had a boyfriend to play “table tennis or badminton or something†with.

Before ending his month-long SA sojourn and heading to Dubai on the next leg of his world tour, Williams promised to return, saying, “South Africa rocks – it’s been great ... SA is the world’s best kept secretâ€Â.
