Robbie plans mystical element for tour

Saturday, May 6 2006, 14:47 BST - by Daniel Kilkelly

Robbie Williams is planning to include a mystical element to his new world tour.

The singer has apparently become inspired by illusionist David Copperfield and magician friend Derren Brown.

A source told the Daily Star, "Rob's fascinated with all things magical and mysterious and he's incorporating many elements into the show. He wants this one to be a real spectacle with aspects of an illusionist's show, too.

"The current idea is for him to be raised onto the stage on a platform in a puff of smoke, making it seem as if he's appeared from nowhere. For 30 seconds beforehand, the beeps from Close Encounters will blast out over the speakers."

The article's source is the Daily Star so it must be true..... :P

CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE ROBBIE KIND

Alien Tune to Launch World Gigs. edited

Robbie Williams will arrive on stage to the eerily iconic alien tune from Close Encouters for his world tour.

Rob 32, will appear in a puff of smoke when he kicks off the tour in Dublin on June 9th.

He is taking inspiration from magician mate Derren Brown, 35, and big name illusionists like David Copperfield.

Rob's fascinated with all things magical and mysterious and he's incorporating many elements into the show.

He wants this one to be a real spectacle with aspects of an illusionist's show. The current idea is for him to be raised onto the stage on a platform in a puff of smoke, making it seem as if he's appeared from nowhere.

For 30 seconds beforehand, the beeps from Close Encounters will blast out over the speakers.

Meanwhile, the September dates of the tour, originally scheduled for Wembley Stadium have been moved to Milton Keynes.

Personally I can't wait to see this show. Rob Williams isn't my favourite artist, but he's certainly an entertainer.

If he's given his head and allowed to get carried away with spacecraft and such, we could have a truely memorable set of gigs on our hands this summer.

With that music and his entrance it all sounds very atmospheric and seeing it person will be fab....I am sure that it is more than just a 'puff of smoke'....I wonder what song he will then lead in to, whether it will be Radio...it actually sounds like the perfect intro for Ghosts to me.

thanks Susie...great exclusive. :D

It looks like Robbie will add Venezuela to his latin American tour that will take place in october this same year where he'll promote his latest album: Intensive Care.

Negociation for his visit to that country were fighten by the three most important entertainment network (Evenpro, Solid Show and Emporio). Finally the negociation ended signing with OidosSucios.Com to bring the artist to Caracas.

This tour will also visit Argentina, Brazil and Chile.

thanks to fan-sites.org/robbie-williams/indexx.htm

spread the love Robbie, spread the love.

Should be interesting ..... I read on another RW forum that they'll be a close encounters trailer. Nothing to do with magic or the supernatural though  Apparently, the trailer is similar to the Come Undone video.

Yep brilliant news for all those Aussie fans that have been waiting for so long for this news.

You know what, I was reading a report that had gone about prior to the Euro tour about this being Robbie's last tour for a very long time, going out on the biggest tour he has ever done with Stadiums and fields everywhere, and I am really sad about it, can you imagine no Robbie performances and tours for ages. I don't want to think about it. :(

We have to make the most of these concerts, each and every one, just in case he isn't jesting. :)

he said it last time in 2003. Robbie will do what alot of artists do, take about 5 years out and come back with a big tour again. This time we might have to wait longer than 3 years. I bet he would do one off concerts anyway.

He has far too much creativity to stop altogether. My bet is on a Swing Tour.

anyway, this must be the best article I have ever read. It brought me out in goosepimples, what a shame our press don't write things like this. Shame on the British press and all the c**p they write.

ROBBIE'S CLOSE ENCOUNTER WITH AUSTRALIA

Robbie Williams, music’s man with the Midas touch who shattered the Guinness Book of World Records for the fastest, and largest, number of concert tickets ever sold in one day — 1.6 million when the European leg of his World Tour went on sale in November 2005 — is confirmed to tour Australia and will end his World Tour, Robbie Williams: Close Encounters, here.

Promoter, Michael Chugg, today announced that the “world’s favourite entertainer and most dynamic showman ever seenâ€, would perform stadiums in December, playing the country’s five major capital cities.

The “let me entertain you†stadium-pop giant includes Perth, Adelaide and Brisbane for the first time in five years, and plays Sydney and Melbourne.

At Brisbane’s Suncorp Stadium, Robbie will be the first international act to make use of its concert potential and big-crowd facilities.

Chugg says of his concert coup of the year that “the country is expected to join the ticket-selling phenomenon already experienced in every territory where Robbie Williams’ concerts have gone on sale.â€

He sold out five London shows, each with a capacity of 75,000. His Leeds’ concert sold out in 90 minutes. Holland sold-out their four Amsterdam Arena gigs in a breath-taking 89 minutes. In Germany a mass of 20,000 fans braved the cold to line the streets of Munich waiting for tickets to go on sale at midnight!

To cope with demand, and in an unprecedented Australian first, tickets will go on sale across two days.

Sydney, sold via Ticketek, and Melbourne via Ticketmaster, go on sale June 6.

Adelaide and Brisbane both from Ticketek, and Perth from Ticketmaster, follow on June 7.

“Alternating the ticketing outlets on different days, in different cities, will provide the best buying opportunities for fans,†said Chugg.

Tickets will be sold with a strict six ticket per transaction limit. An internet pre-sale through robbiewilliams.com Inner Sanctum is scheduled from May 25.

Record-breaking ticket sales are expected for what will be biggest stadium production show to ever tour Australia.

“This is a rare occasion where Australia gets the exact concert that will be seen in the Northern Hemisphere,†says Chugg.

“Because of the size and complexity of this technological monster, they’ll be bringing two stage roofs and rigs from the UK which will run in tandem and leap-frog across the country.â€

57 semi-trailers will be on the road. 30 steel containers and 27 trucks will transport staging, production and the six 400amp generators needed to power the pop-hunk’s super-sized show in Australia.

Robbie’s World Tour starts in Dublin on June 9 and visits 14 countries on 44 different dates and will finish in Australia. It is estimated his live audience will total 2.6 million.

Chugg concludes, “I am very excited that Robbie, whose love for Australia is well known, has agreed to play our major cities.â€

Each of the stadium concerts will be a combination of general admission (GA) tickets and allocated seats in the stands. No alcohol or bottles (including plastic) will be permitted in the GA areas. Pocket-size and mobile phone cameras will be permitted.

Concert information like maps, arrival and departure times, and public transport options will be broadcast and printed in local media closer to each concert date.

The 50-million-world-wide-album-seller topped the charts in 18 countries with his latest, Intensive Care. The new single, Sin Sin Sin is out in Australia June 3.

In a story of unparalleled success this Australian tour will ink another chapter in the story that is Robbie Williams.

Don’t miss your chance to be a part of pop history-in-the-making!
