Posted April 5, 200619 yr Well Man United and Chelsea have 6 games left and United are 7 points behind them. Anyone think they have a chance of taking Chelsea and winning the League?! Alternatively it could all go balls up and Liverpool take second spot leaving United in third. Opinions anyone? These are United and Chelsea's final few games: MAN UNITED FIXTURES Sunday, 09 April 2006 Man Utd v Arsenal, 16:00 Friday, 14 April 2006 Man Utd v Sunderland, 19:45 Monday, 17 April 2006 Tottenham v Man Utd, 12:45 Sunday, 23 April 2006 Man Utd v Middlesbrough, 15:00 Saturday, 29 April 2006 Chelsea v Man Utd, 12:30 Sunday, 07 May 2006 Man Utd v Charlton, 15:00 CHELSEA FIXTURES Sunday, 09 April 2006 Chelsea v West Ham, 12:00 Saturday, 15 April 2006 Bolton v Chelsea, 12:45 Monday, 17 April 2006 Chelsea v Everton, 15:00 Saturday, 29 April 2006 Chelsea v Man Utd, 12:30 Tuesday, 2 May 2006 Blackburn v Chelsea, 20:00 Sunday, 07 May 2006 Newcastle v Chelsea, 15:00 Also, the top end of the League looks like this: 1 Chelsea 32 15 1 0 37 8 10 3 3 23 11 41 79 2 Man Utd 32 11 3 1 31 8 11 3 3 33 22 34 72 3 Liverpool 33 13 3 1 28 7 7 4 5 19 15 25 67 4 Tottenham 32 10 5 1 27 13 5 5 6 19 19 14 55 5 Arsenal 31 12 2 2 40 9 4 3 8 13 14 30 53 6 Blackburn 32 11 3 2 28 16 5 2 9 15 21 6 53
April 5, 200619 yr if Man United can then they have to beat Chelsea. So in effect its whether Chelsea will lose 4 points (not including the Man United game) in the games they have to play. It will be close, maybe they could lose to bolton or a resurgent Newcastle although will be close.
April 5, 200619 yr I didn't think it was possible a few weeks ago but they do have a chance, I still think Chelsea will win the title but Man U will push them all the way. Man U's fixtures arent the hardest and I think the'll beat Arsenal at the weekend.I hope they do win it ahead of Chelsea as I can't stand to see it being dominated by one team.
April 5, 200619 yr If Man Utd beat Chelsea then I think the title is all theres, and I reckon Chelsea might end up finishing third if Liverpool continue their good run of form.
April 5, 200619 yr Man Utd stand about a 5% chance of taking it from Chelsea, can't see it happening myself. Also the game Chelsea vs Man Utd is a home game from Chelsea and they haven't lost a league game at home this season.
April 5, 200619 yr Both sides don't have the easiest of run-ins, what with other clubs goin for European spots too. I want United to win it, I hate them but it would take that smirk off Mourinho's face :cheer: always a good thing!
April 6, 200619 yr I think it will be a close run thing, but I think Chelsea will hold onto the League.
April 6, 200619 yr I think Chelsea will probably hold on. I would give Manchester abour a 10% shot of winning, as it seems to me Chelsea have the slightly easier run in. If Chelsea manage to loose 4 points before the united game, it could be a very interesting match to watch! If I were Chelsea, I would want the title sewn up well before the final game. If they HAD to get something from an away game at Newcastle on the last day, they would be facing a massive barrage from the Toon army, and it could well lift Newcastle to play beyond themselves. At least it's no longer a formality for Chelsea anyway, though they still remain firm favourites.
April 7, 200619 yr If Man Utd beat Chelsea then I think the title is all theres, and I reckon Chelsea might end up finishing third if Liverpool continue their good run of form. Chelsea only need 4 points to finish ahead of Liverpool. They'll do that even if Utd DO catch them...
April 9, 200619 yr Today was a big day in the race. Chelsea showed they shouldn't be feared so much and I'm sure they tough northern clubs (ie Bolton, Newcastle, Blackburn and Man U) can give them a game and a half. I don't know. I'm still 75% sure Chelski will win..
April 10, 200619 yr I think Newcastle - Chelsea on the last day could be an AMAZING game if the title isn't decided what with it beaing Shearer's last ever game...
April 10, 200619 yr Author Yes, yesterday was a pivotal day in the League. Chelsea showed they can be vulnerable and, and as you say, could easily slip up to some of the heard-to-beat teams. United showed that, at the moment, they're probably the hardest team to beat at the moment, they could well get the 100% record until the end of the season now.
April 10, 200619 yr Oh I LOVE the fact that everyone HATES Mourinho :D It is well deserved. I don't hate him ;)
April 10, 200619 yr Author I don't hate him ;) You will in time. He won't have his looks FOREVER y'know ;)
