It's a new entry on top for the 2012 track I Am The Antichrist For You, selling on itunes following a key slot in Rick & Morty and long overdue for the track that I picked and charted in 2016 for the Buzzjack Song Contest. The video, also created by Kishi Bashi, is heartbreaking gorgeous, and the record deserved to be widely-known. In at 3, the original version of It Must Be Love from Labi Siffre is 50 years old, and despite Madness' fab version, I still love this wonderful more acoustic version - so popping into the itunes this week was enough excuse for me to rechart it, as like Kishi Bashi, it also didn't top my charts first-time round.

 

The Veronicas finally get another top 10 to follow-up their chart-topper, and it's otherwise a quiet-ish week for new songs, with the return of Natalie Imbruglia after a 6-year gap, and 24-year-year run since topping with Torn. RAYE returns, Jungle follow-up and a trio of football-related songs return to the list, although Cracklin' Rosie is more cos Sweet Caroline is selling like hotcakes for Neil Diamond, and this one is also selling in it's wake. Expect them all to drop like a brick everywhere by Friday.....

In My Eyes is really quite naff in context of Kiesza's previous material. Specifically her debut which was phenomenal.

Love Again still sitting pretty. I'd like to see this climb some tbh.

The Walls are way too think climbing slowly and I think you may be right. It doesn't sample The Police but I would definitely say it's inspired by it.

I honestly wasn't prepared to love Let Them Know as much as I have been. It's such a bop!

Builf It Better is alright. There are elements of the song I like but I also feel like it was rushed out and is unfinished.

I'm so happy to see Call On Me enter as well. It's fantastic.

No not heard Do The Television, must check it out, thanks for the tip! Kiezsa's debut hit was a real goodie, I doubt she'll ever come up to that standard again, but the new one is decent enough without likely to ever be a Great :)

 

Call On Me is growing on me after getting a lot of Radio 2 plays, ditto Mabel and Build It Better. I didn't buy any of them on first hearing, but they grew on me :)

I feel the same about Bad Habits - my first reaction was "ooh buy this, doesn't sound like Sheeran!" Now I've heard it a lot, it's clearly not amongst his best records, better than his simpering ballads but not quite a banger :o I thought his last low-key track was better on the whole....

 

Tubthumping, yes Euros, the itunes chart was invaded by football songs and anything slightly-related :lol: It's all over now!

Thanks for the condolences, soon as I saw the semi line-up I knew it was a goner :lol: I can usually tell after this length of time who's gonna vote which way when it comes to genres of tracks and all bar one (thanks Rollo and a few other pleasantly surprising votes that came our way) were in your semi. Oops! :D

 

Not heard the Woolford Mirror remix, but the single grabbed me eventually. Tungevaag still sounds a great summer pop record. Should have won BJSC, oops! :teresa:

 

Yes, it's odd how some records just don;t grab you when they come out for whatever reason (general mood in life at that time can have a lot to do with it), but they can grow with time. Tubthumping had a huge run for me, 48 weeks, although it never topped my charts, it was initially big, and then I got to hear it all over again on a Florida holiday when it was big US hit, so it got it's legs back with holiday nostalgia.
