July 16, 20214 yr Feel really worried about both of them here but hoping Aesthetica will have just enough to qualify!
July 16, 20214 yr Author  And it’s both out, in fact both end up bottom of the semi! Zaminton finished 31st in Semi Final H with 9 points (13 before deduction), and Aesthetica finished 30th (29th before deduction) with 18 points (21 before deduction). lewdity not tolerated in this Christian BJSC
July 16, 20214 yr lewdity not tolerated in this Christian BJSC On a sidenote how long ago was the last Christian song sent? Edited July 16, 20214 yr by uhsting
July 16, 20214 yr May not have understood a word of it but 'Fuck Knots' was a bit of a banger, deserved better. Good to know the deductions haven't affected any qualifiers though.
July 16, 20214 yr Author Key Anime by Jun Maeda (Angel Beats + Charlotte) Angel Beats and Charlotte have the same author Maeda and original visual novel studio Key, play out fairly similar and definitely have the same feel to them. Easy, accessible anime both, Angel Beats is set in a school in purgatory where misfits seek to attack and dethrone God, the other, Charlotte has a number of characters developing X-Men-like superhero traits with a mystery about where they came from. Quintessa gets Kanade Tachibana, the titular ‘Angel’ of Angel Beats, because her character archetype, quiet, reserved girl (often with silver/white hair) who barely speaks, is probably one of the biggest ‘clichés’ in anime. It’s also one of my favourite types. The Actual Republic of Bellamia gets something completely different, Nao Tomori is an iconic, snarky highlight of her show, chosen because her power is to become invisible, hence ‘Nobody’.  Again, are both through, are neither through, or is one through?
July 16, 20214 yr Ooh hooray! Defying the predictions yet again :yahoo: (I should rename myself to Trifoski x) bittersweet to go out the same post as Fljotavik though, that was quite a lovely song that could've grown on me a lot more with future listens. All going well so far with my own semi, Skall & Trifoski were naturally essentials and particularly pleasantly surprised at Suedeonia after the bad predictions that got, retro power in this semi *.
July 16, 20214 yr Author  And it’s both through! Quintessa and The Actual Republic of Bellamia will both return in the final this month!Â
July 16, 20214 yr omg I DID IT Finally broken my record Q streak :cheeseblock: :cheeseblock: :cheeseblock: :cheeseblock:
July 16, 20214 yr Author Re:Zero – Starting Life In Another World/Konosuba – God’s Blessings On This Wonderful World Re:Zero and Konosuba get compared ALL the time, both subversions of the ‘put a loser from our world in a fantasy world’ subgenre, the former makes him suffer horribly, the latter makes him the leader of an It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia-like gang of misfits. Republique D’Askorza were assigned Ram from Re:Zero, a pink-haired, no-nonsense maid, simply because her name is the first part of ‘Rampampam’.  Jupiterdonia meanwhile got Aqua, the water goddess from Konosuba, ‘waves of blue’, of course.  Again, two, so are both in, are both out, or is one in and one out?
July 16, 20214 yr Quintessa serving probably the best of the 'Blinding Lights' alikes to grace the BJSC :music:Â The Greyson song was nothing special but WD Joseph for finally breaking the 5 Qs curse. x
July 16, 20214 yr Author  Both are in! Welcome back to the final to Republique D’Askorza, and Jupiterdonia is in also. Now, only five remain in Semi Final Horse, and we’ll deal with them over the next two sets. Left to announce from Semi Final Horse are 3 Qs and 2 NQs. They are:  #00274E Cumulonimbia Ojnoj POPHub Tartford.Â
July 16, 20214 yr Author Rascal Does Not Dream Of Bunny Girl Senpai, Cells At Work, and Vivy: Fluorite Eye’s Song A set of miscellaneous shows to fill up the space, for Tartford I used Kaede Azusagawa from Rascal Does Not Dream Of Bunny Girl Senpai, who always dresses in a panda onesie that could be mistaken for a cow onesie (‘La Vache’) if you didn’t look close enough.  For #00274E I used the Red Blood Cell from Cells At Work for ‘In Your Veins’, and for Cumulonimbia I used Vivy, a sentient singing AI, a ‘verse girl’ if you will, who is the main character of the new Terminator/Westworld-esque thriller show Vivy: Fluorite Eye’s Song from the author of Re:Zero – currently watching this one and it’s gooooood.   Two of these are through, one is out. Which?Â
July 16, 20214 yr Both decent qualifiers there. All three of this next batch of songs were among my highlights of the semi so will be a shame whichever of them is out - I think Tartford are probably safe but not sure between the other two.
July 16, 20214 yr Hope Cumulonimbia is through so that completes the trance/techno lineup from this semi!
July 16, 20214 yr Author  Tartford finished 25th in Semi-Final H with 27 points.   Which means both #00274E and Cumulonimbia are through to the final!  Next, Ojnoj vs POPHub. Â
July 16, 20214 yr Author Non Non Biyori and Tonikaku Kawaii Non Non Biyori (translation (I think, there’s debate about this): ‘It’s A Perfect Day!!!!’) I love for a similar reason I love Higurashi, they show off the unmatched beauty of Japanese rural beauty spots, idyllic countryside and the escapist fantasy of quiet village life. However without the thriller of the former, NNB is more a show you put on with a cup of tea and after 20 minutes, you always (has never failed for me) feel better, its subgenre is ‘iyashikei’ or ‘healing anime’ for a reason.  For Ojnoj, NNB is mostly a summery show and Renge Miyauchi, the main unique character in it, is this wide-eyed curious, precocious kid who’s basically the sort of kid that’d make you want to have kids. Can’t say whether this show is sponsored by the Japanese government but it’s almost certainly sponsored by its tourist board. Renge is, indeed, normally home all summer. Numayania meanwhile gets Hotarou Ichijou, who has one side gag where she keeps a ‘collection’ of stuffed dolls that resemble her older classmate Komari, because she idolises her so much. And then I’ve put POPHub in here too, who get Tonikaku Kawaii (‘Cute No Matter What’ – or alternatively: Fly Me To The Moon) and the main female lead Tsukasa Tsukuyomi (those paying attention will realise that like with Persephonia’s character, her name is also very moon-related). TK is a story about the wonderful parts of married life, as the Japanese government tries, yet again, to convince its population to start shacking up and reproducing. Hence, ‘Monogamy’. So we’ll deal with POPHub and Ojnoj’s fate in the next post, remember, one is in and one is out and that will finish off Semi-Final H. Then we will go to Numayania to start on the last stretch of Semi-Final Z. Â
