As it is a macimum of 20 poll choices I have put the best 20 teams in the WC 06 in the poll.

England IMO will win the world cup, not being biased but we have the squad, players like Owen, Rooney, Beckham, Cole ect etc... can win us the WC. Sven isn't the man for the job though and it'll be good to see him go after the world cup.

Brazil are the favourites and can't be written off, Ronaldinho the FIFA player of the year can win matches on his own, he will be a key player. But Brazil have enough of those.

Germany have an outside chance even being at home !! They arent getting the results and don't have a strong squad. Klinsmann will have to work a miracle if Germany are to win but they are at home and who knows, they might just do well.

Italy maybe have the best squad, the strikers and midfeilders they have can get into any team in the world but havent been doing well in recent tornaments, they are going to be very strong.

Holland - very underated but very good, I wouldn't of thought they would win it becuase of their young squad but they will be one of the favourites and that's understandable. I think they'll be better for the next world cup.

Spain - underacheived in the last 50 years and will be hoping for a successfull campaign, they can do it but they have to be at their best.

Portugal - they showed how well they can do in major compititions in Euro 2004, they have some great indevidual players including the very underated Pualeta.

And the outsiders , none really stand a chance i.e African countries but others such as Australia might be dark horses, but I doubt them getting too far.

Well I actually think England will win as long as we keep all our key players fit, although I also think Holland have a great chance of winning the world cup as well.

If there are any 18+ people on here that can visit the bookies, then I'd recommend you put an each way bet on Serbia and Montenegro as I reckon they'll go far in the world cup this year.

I reckon Argentina. I mean, cmon we are never gonna win it's a shame but we get all hyped up every time a major tournament is on, and when was the last time we got beyond the quarter finals? -_-

I hope Sven doesn't mess it up for us as we have a really good chance of winning this year as long as key players like Gerrard, Rooney and Lampard stay fit, and strangley enough I don't think that Argentina actually have a chance of winning this year.

Please can this be pinned.

Why wont we win it David ? I can't see anything wrong with us winning it, Argentina wont win, thwy have a good squad but apart from Messi who is still really young, they have no world class players (maybe Riquelme) alot of average player Tbh, I don't see them doing well.

England can win it without a doubt.

This is the first time in my life I can honestly say that going into a World Cup.

My biggest fear is if England win their group & Germany finish second in theirs (or vice-versa) then we will meet the host nation in the last 16 Knockout stage.

Remembering the appalling refereeing in the World Club Championship's final where Liverpool had two legitimate goals disallowed & a "stonewall" penalty turned down I will then fear the worst.

If you think England have problem's upfront with Michael Owen look at Brazil with Ronaldo (I so hope the rumours are true & that he and Van Nisterooy are swapping clubs).

If England can get through to the Semi-Finals then we can beat Brazil. Yes Ronaldinho is brilliant but if you stop him playing (let Carrick Man-mark him) then the England midfield have the armoury to defeat the favourites.

That is what I was thinking really... it always happens to us :( either at that stage or the quarter finals, we get a really tough opposition when the likes of Brazil get easier countries. Still, let's hope this year is different! :cheer:

England, depends what opposition we get in the last 16, Germany are pretty crap lately, but I think Spain or Argentina have got a good chance this year as well.
England actually have a good chance this time for once I think :o I'd be very suprised if it wasn't either them or Brazil that won.

think the samba music will be heard a lot this summer,

I think Trinidad and Tobago will be the surprise package in Germany myself :cheer:

Sorry to all England fans, including myself, but we aren't gonna win - sorry for being so unpatriotic but the whole country descends into panic as soon as Rooney breaks his foot, his absence will be blamed for our loss. That's one player ffs, if we have to rely on one lad, we quite frankly don't deserve to win it. -_-

I hope someone will be able to prove me wrong. :(

Some people belive that Rooney is the key to winning thw world cup. Yes he may well be, but the rest of the aquad is strong enough to get through the group stages. Tomorrow we will find out what Sven intends to play against Paraguay on June 10th, and i'm expecting him to go with a 4-4-2 with his normal team but with Crouch playing instead of Rooney.

I say unleash Lennon on a tema with a slow left back as Lennon will rip them to pieces with his speed.

I would like england to win, but thats just me wasting my breath

Brazil

Though england have a good chance even if rooney will miss most of the games. Our midfied and defence are rock solid and our forwards are not too bad. all we need is a bit of luck!
