December 12, 200618 yr I want to see it when it comes to my local cinema. Still have to wait many days ... -_-
December 12, 200618 yr Looks like some cut-price, 99p discount store version of "Lord of the Rings", in fact, it looks almost as c**p as that awful "Dungeons and Dragons" film.... And I am totally irritated by that title.... "Eragon"????? Oh, just ONE vowel wrong and it's a lawsuit from J R R Tolkien's estate for you matey...... :P

Oh, just ONE vowel wrong and it's a lawsuit from J R R Tolkien's estate for you matey...... :P What's the one wrong vowel, if you get what I mean? I've been trying to figure it, but can't. I'm so dense, hah.
December 12, 200618 yr Is it 'Eregion' ? Although that's two vowels so it's probably wrong. Edited December 12, 200618 yr by x-The_Royston_Poisoner-x
December 12, 200618 yr What's the one wrong vowel, if you get what I mean? I've been trying to figure it, but can't. I'm so dense, hah. 'Aragon' was the character from 'Lord of the Rings'... So, it would be the letter 'A'....
December 12, 200618 yr Yeah it looks ALOT like LOTR. That's why I'm gonna see it, because I love that type of movies. But it won't be better than LOTR. Never. Eragon always make me thing of Aragorn.
December 12, 200618 yr Eragon always make me thing of Aragorn. It's gonna make a LOT of people think of Aragorn and the LOTR trilogy... And the comparisons will not be exacty favourable....
December 12, 200618 yr This looks alright. :D It is VERY similar to LOTR though. Eragorn is even a trilogy like LOTR. :o
December 12, 200618 yr Is it wrong that I prefer Dungeons and Dragons to LOTR? I might go and see this - looks entertaining enough.
December 14, 200618 yr Is it wrong that I prefer Dungeons and Dragons to LOTR? Yes, very wrong... :P How could you man...? D&D looks like it's made for TV..... and the ludicrous over-acting from Jeremy Irons is something else.... I used to love playing the game when I was a teenager, but seeing that film just ruined all my good memories of playing...
December 14, 200618 yr Here's the plot of "Eragon" guys.... A young man raised by his uncle in the middle of nowhere finds a small object which brings him into contact with a long-dead order of powerful knights. A older local man, long thought to be a crazy hermit, turns out to be the last remaining knight and begins teaching the young man how to use his newfound abilities. Figuring heavily into all of this is the woman who sends the young man a message asking to be rescued. - London-Net Cinema guide Hmmm, throw in a couple of comedy robots and you've got the plot to the 1977 "Star Wars".....  A 500-page book boiled down into a film that lasts barely 100 minutes... Oh dear....
December 14, 200618 yr I saw the trailer for this at the cinema the other day and at first I thought it was lord of the rings but then I knew that it had finished so I thought it was the film to the hobbit but then it said it was called Eragon
December 15, 200618 yr Just got back from seeing this. :cheer: Heres my review. :o I'm unsure about this film. I cannot stress how similar it is to Lord Of The Rings. Its obviously gonna get sterotyped towards being the fourth in the triolgy of LOTR becuase it is VERY similar. I think to a certain degree the director has maybe even done this on purpose to be honest. Well some of it was just a bit too predictable but well you normally get it with these sort of films, still its a good film but it has quite a few well ermmm rubbish parts shall I say. :P I'm quite miffed as to how its gonna carry on for another two films. SPOILER ALERT: I mean half of the main charchters die! but well I THINK I know how its gonna carry on as well the beginning 20 minutes of so kinda give you some un-answered questions that will obvs be answered later in the trilogy. All in all its a solid film with some good action sequences so i'll give it a 7 1/2 out of 10. ^_^
December 16, 200618 yr it was similar to lotr, but i thought it was really good nonetheless also 'eragon' was luvley :P
December 25, 200618 yr Author Just got back from seeing this. :cheer: Heres my review. :o I'm unsure about this film. I cannot stress how similar it is to Lord Of The Rings. December 25, 200618 yr Gawd, what a stupid film this is... Such a rip off of "Star Wars" as well in terms of plot.... You dont think so....? Well... A young blonde kid brought up on a farm by his uncle just happens to be the 'last great hope' for his world... JUST LIKE STAR WARS The kid's uncle gets killed by nasty soldiers sent by an evil Emperor/King - JUST LIKE STAR WARS A feisty Princess who got captured while transporting something of great importance to a band of Rebel insurgents sends out a message for someone to come to her aid - JUST LIKE STAR WARS An old, crazy Hermit guy tells the young kid of his destiny - JUST LIKE STAR WARS The old, crazy Hermit guy just happens to be one of the last surviving members of an ancient order of Knights who channelled this great, mystical power which allowed them to do just about anything - JUST LIKE STAR WARS The Order of Knights was betrayed and destroyed by a traitor within their midst - JUST LIKE STAR WARS The Old, hermit guy dies in battle protecting the young kid thus sacrificing himself for the greater good - JUST LIKE STAR WARS The young kid overcomes his own self-doubt to become a great warrior and hero of the Rebel alliance - JUST LIKE STAR WARS And what isn't ripped off from Star Wars is ripped off from Tolkien (the "Razaks" are basically stand-ins for the Ring Wraiths..), there's a gruff Scottish bloke with a beard who seems to be a distant cousin of Gimli the dwarf, Aria is basically a cross between Princess Leia and Arwen, Saphira the dragon can almost be a stand-in for the Millennium Falcon as well.... This is so fukkin' dervitive and lazy that it's unreal... I'm actually gonna read the books, because they cannot possibly be as bad as this film makes them out to be... I rather get the impression that they're not and the lazy film-makers have just stripped them of any kind of individuality and meaning.. The main bad-guy, Galbatorix, is given absolutely NOTHING to do but prat around his cave and hiss a bit (when you have an actor of the caliber of John Malkovich in your film, I reckon you really should give him a bit more to do that this..).. I rather have the impression that in the book there was just a little bit more to his character than that... As for Robert Carlyle... Just why the hell does he look like Dani Filth????? Just as I suspected really, a discount store version of "Lord of the Rings"... The final 'big battle' sequence is unbelievably underwhelming, not even matching up to "Chronicles of Narnia" never mind the superb, spectacular, epic battles of LOTR.... A crock of sh!t....1/10
