Posted October 12, 20213 yr 10th October 2021 It's a 4th week on top for Abba's Don't Shut Me Down, and a 6th double-top week, as Billy Idol is kept off the top with a great single that would otherwise be fighting with a 3rd great Agnes dance track for the top spot. Both have had number ones before though, so it's not quite so unlucky as it might have been. Agnes gets her 3rd top 5, and Duran Duran make it 40 years of top 10's since Planet Earth & Girls On Film started the ball rolling. Coldplay have a mere 21 years of top 10's, now, though BTS grab a first on their coat-tails. Billie Eilish's fabulous Bond theme is back, as I've just seen the film, new at 13 18 months after going top 2, and Stereophonics get only their 4th top 20 ever - they've had a long list of "likes" but previous few "loves" in their 25-year career, Maybe Tomorrow hit 5 in 2003, My Friends hit 7 in 2008, and Dakota a big chart-topper in 2005, so 13-years of waiting for another. It's a quiet week for new entries, been too hectic to pay proper attention to new stuff, so it's just the new Tears For Fears track extending their generally fab singles career to 39 years, and Jungle making it a hat-trick off the latest album. There are 2 1974 Glam Rock goodies (forgotten, for the most part, these days) following the death of John Rossall from The Glitter Band. Angel Face almost topped the UK chart (and got higher than old boss Glitter's dirge of the time, hah! Oh this is nothing, one of the olden days singles had 19 weeks on top in total :lol: Glad you came round to My Universe in the end, some records just take a few listens - I just popped Shivers into my itunes basket now it's on the chart decline :lol: I still love You, I've never got bored with hearing it, still fresh, which is a sign of a track I'm going to love for years :wub: Poor Becky, oops! :lol: I doubt if Tell Me Something Good will outdo the chart-peak of the original for me, but it's a good tune to bop to (if I ever get to bop again) cheers! I got my Voyage tickets though! Yay! Saw Cliff last night at 81, and he started with Wired For Sound, and included most of his great singles in with his more bland personal faves non-hits. BTS, lol! Coldplay show they can survive anything :D The Glitter Band have been sadly largely forgotten, but they had a decent run of singles for 3 years. I still rate instrumental Rock & Roll Part 2 from Mr Gadd's career, but I give all credit to his late writer/producer these days rather than to the frontsman. Angel Face and Let's Get Together Again show he could have been superfluous, it was the sound that mattered. :teresa: Tears For Fears was disappointing to me on first listen too, but it's kinda grown on me - though not one of their great moments (and they had one relatively recently that topped my chart - 2017's I Love You But I'm Lost).
