The absolutely Queen of Eurovision  Maybe she delivered the best Eurovision performance ever?? Yes. She did :cheer:
i wonder where all the chanel haters are when she won in benidorm fest back then :kink:
The criticism was towards the voting system that made her win with like 10% of the public vote in the first place.

Well this is not true, cos from the moment she won, started to get insults, critics and even threats, she deactivated Twitter due the level of hate she was receiving.

Actually was funny how ridiculous Tanxungueiras and big part of Eurovision Spanish fans were, because rules were clear from the begging: jury vote was 50% of the decision so just because their favourites didn’t get the biggest score started the hate campaign against Chanel. Thanks God time put things in place and meanwhile Chanel made history in the festival for spanish records and got an audience of the 50%, Tanxungueiras will be forgotten in a few months and I couldn’t be more happier cos they are horrendous as their fans.

But the rules are ridiculous, a flat rate accumulation of points rather than making it proportional to percentages makes it impossible for a landslide winner on one metric to win if the other metric disagrees.

For the best on this occasion, it would have been a shame for Spain to lose their most successful entry in forever. Regardless, it's more than a little bit suspicious of a win in the NF. Getting 70% on a public televote should win you any contest no matter what the juries are doing. Similarly with 70% of juries but while that seems a little more problematic on the face of it, it wasn't possible to get 70% of jury points in the first place (hence it's not a fair 50/50 split) and in any system where it could happen, it would be a really strange song and it would be even stranger if such a song got a negligible televote. This way around it can look more than a little bit like corruption within the juries to ensure a chosen one wins. The relationship Spain has with its autonomous regions like Galicia makes it even more sus.

I mean, in general it's good that Spanish fans are getting more interested in the contest but holy christ are they annoying, no matter who they are fans for. Chanel deserved better immediately following her win and it's great that they're celebrating her now, but sort your shit out Spain because your selection processes and fan attitudes need some major adjustments.

Watched this today. So interesting! I feel like this is what the UK were trying to do in past years but never managed it at all?
