Basement Jaxx have said they'll never play with Robbie Williams again because they found his tour "soulless".

The dance duo, who toured with Robbie in the summer, told The Daily Record they found the experience empty and disliked the way Robbie merchandise was plugged at every opportunity.

"I wouldn't want to repeat that experience," said Basement Jaxx star Felix Buxton.

"It's a big money-making corporate machine. Fans pay a lot of money to get to the gig, then they get there and the programme costs £12 for a few pages, then there's the Robbie ring tones and Robbie everything. It's milking money at every point; it just felt a bit soulless."

Every major star on the planet sells merchandise at their concerts, the bigger the star the more merchandise is on sale, sour grapes methinks.

I notice Basement Jaxx are making all these comments after the event - if they felt so strongly about it why did they agree to tour with him in the first place. They took full advantage of being able to perform in front of crowds up to 90,000 & now have the cheek to moan about it.

Robbie Williams can never be said to be souless in his performances , merchandising goes with the touring as people want to buy things to remind them of a particular concert or event. I think Basement Jaxx have a lot to learn the main one being to know when to shut it & be grateful for being given such an opportunity as they had this year.

I couldnt wait for them to hurry up and get off stage so Robbie could come on.

As for the merchandise, I couldnt get enough of it! It was all part of the build up for me on the day.
