Take That playing game of Patience on chart

Source: Music Week

Take That are continuing to dominate the Christmas market as they look poised this weekend to remain at the top of the singles and artist albums charts.

Retail reports indicate the Polydor act’s single Patience and parent album Beautiful World will spend respectively a fourth and third week at number one this Sunday, in what will be the penultimate surveys before Christmas.

Take That’s ongoing lead on albums comes in a market where the chart is now virtually locked in until Christmas, with little movement among the Top 10 titles and no new releases figuring in the chart. As such, the top five positions, which were filled last week by Take That, Big Brother’s Oasis, S’s Westlife, Syco’s Il Divo and the Mercury-handled U2, are expected to be occupied by the same acts again, while only Polydor’s Snow Patrol are likely to move into the Top 10.

The band’s Eyes Open, which is already the biggest seller of the year to date, is set to be one of the strongest sales gainers of the week. Other big week-on-week sales gainers include Fascination/Polydor’s Girls Aloud, J/Sony BMG’s Rod Stewart and a UMTV-handled Neil Diamond best of.

In contrast to the albums countdown, the singles chart will enjoy plenty of movement this weekend. Two Polydor releases, Chris Cornell’s You Know My Name and Gwen Stefani’s Wind It Up, are likely to move into the top five as a result of newly-issued physical formats, while the All Around The World track Truly Madly Deeply by Cascada and Bad Boy/Atlantic’s Tell Me by P Diddy featuring Christina Aguilera are on course to leap into the Top 10 for the same reason.

Meanwhile, Sir Cliff Richard will add to his unrivalled list of festive hits with 21st Century Christmas and a remake of his first hit Move It almost a certainty for a Top 10 debut on Sunday.

Cliff is only 400 copies ahead, even Chris Cornell is close to Gwen, Nos 2 to 5 are pretty close, literally less than 400 copies between them
Album sales are good considering the amount of gloop on offer.

Sales look rather poor at this stage of the year :(

Singles yes. But Albums Okay.

I think also X-Factor doesn't encourage other artists to release singles at Christmas.

Cascada doing well...hats off to Cliff for another December top 5 hit!!!

The positions 2 to 6 can change by Sunday, its literally very close between them, still 3 days to account for.

Mariah Carey would have been #9 if she had a physical release of All I Want For Christmas

oops :o forgot to add Crazy Frog

"Goes and edits"

I think album sales are a little lower this year The #10 album last year sold 105k, this year that album would be at #5
is Diddy still 8? how far from top 10 is it?
So Cascada could be number 2 on Sunday OMG
