Chart commentary: This week features 12 new entries and 1 re-entry, the lowest in weeks. However, this is probably the first time in months that there are 3 songs debuting in top 10. Cisgender is a power ballad by Shamir, denouncing labels of any kind. Letter is a hugely sophisticated instrumental song which features various buildups and drops. Finally, OOO DADDY is a catchy playful song about overcoming embarrassment in sex. Lower down, we have various new entries ranging from different genres.

 

Stupid Boy rises to no. 1 at their second week in top 50, ousting AGAIN with the anthemic song. Meanwhile, Vega drops one position, otherwise holding the top 3 spot pretty well. In top 10, we see Another year like that and we'd be all dead entering top 10 with a beautiful Christmas ballad while the extremely confusing Hengitä wraps up top 10. The Worst records the biggest jump this week -- earning 17 positions to no. 30.

Number One Entry

Terrifically catchy bop right there! This reminds me a lot of Adam Lambert's Ghost Town and COBRAH's Good Puss. The sass is unmeasurable and both Slayyyter and Big Freedia ate.

 

Highest New Entry

This gives me chills every time. The melody is hauntingly beautiful and the instrumentation is absolutely rocking. The vocals may be a bit too piercing for some but surely he delivers the emotion amazingly well!

 

Biggest Jump

This is a lot lighter than her previous songs and more similar to her 2020 Eurovision entry. It is quite catchy and the melody is amazing. Overall production is brilliant and I'm pleased to see the growth in the artistry of VICTORIA!

 

One to Watch

Decent rock song here! Discovered from a national selection of a song contest, this song has a good balance of the vocals and instrumentation in terms of power (or maybe there is a better term for that -- character?). Melody is also quite decent too.

Hi Sven! I think there are two main factors that many of the songs in my chart are not well-known internationally. Firstly, as you said, they do not have wide appeal. Some of the songs here cater to a specific demographic with the provocative sound, or they are in a language that people don't know of, hence they are unable to connect with the song through the lyrics as many people pay a lot of attention towards the lyrics. Secondly, relating to being commercial, most of the songs are not promoted to the rest of the world because a lot of the artist names are not well-known everywhere and some of them are locally famous, and I reckon their label do not have enough resources to promote their music everywhere, though Spotify really helped a lot of the indie and local artists as a lot of them are made available everywhere and their songs are put into Spotify-curated playlists that are accessed by thousands. As such, this is a huge reason why I created the chart in the first place -- to remove the geographical boundaries of music and recommend amazing music to everyone. :D

Lots of interesting-sounding tracks in your list, none of which Ive heard yet, so just flicking through your videos - Stupid Boy is OK, but I love a song by garbage called Stupid Boy which will always spring to my mind first :) Not surprisingly (as Ive charted her 2 Eurovision tracks) I like VICTORIA the most :)

Hi John! Stupid Boy is quite unique but I really love the sound. VICTORIA's The Worst is definitely not the worst and I love the lighter style here.
