Adam's End Of Year Chart - Top 100 - 2021:

45. Lil Nas X - MONTERO (Call Me By Your Name)

Release Date: April 23, 2021 UK Chart Peak: 01
Adam's Chart Run: (10 weeks) | Peak: 01 | 44-29-16-2-1-1-6-26-30-32-x

Lil Nas X has absolutely smashed it for me this year. I wouldn't normally have given him a second thought, but then MONTERO was released and it transformed me into quite a fan. This raunchy track singing about the devil came just as he came out. Coming out as a gay black male in this industry is inspirational and I'm so pleased for him. Plus he's gorgeous so that's a plus  . MONTERO spent two weeks at #1 for me and I still love it to this day :)

Release Date: August 28, 2020 UK Chart Peak: DNC

I have no idea why or how this song has ended up in this EOY chart but anyway, Not the End of the World from Katy Perry's latest album, Smile is pretty good and makes use of the sample pretty well. One of her better efforts however the album didn't do a lot for me.

Yesss MONTERO

Not the End of the World is a definite highlight from Smile for me too - but I agree, overall the album was a bit hit-or-miss.

MONTERO love :w00t: it's just so good haha.

It's a shame that Katy has failed to produce anything amazing since the Teenage Dream era

Thanks Ansel!

43. Becky Hill - Space

Release Date: October 2, 2020 UK Chart Peak: 79
Adam's Chart Run: (24 weeks) | Peak: 01 | 23-5-1-1-2-2-3-9-10-9-6-4-10-11-15-23-34-32-31-41-x-29-31-18-17-x
2020 EOY Chart Position: 05

Space makes another appearance in my EOY chart for 2021 after finishing as my 5th most played song of 2020. It is without a doubt Becky's best song and it still sounds so good over a year from release. I can't believe she named her album with lyrics from this song yet didn't include it on the album? ;) It's absolutely criminal that this flopped and will go down as one of the biggest misses for me in recent times.

42. Years & Years - It's A Sin

Release Date: January 28, 2021 UK Chart Peak: DNC
Adam's Chart Run: (11 weeks) | Peak: 09 | 29-16-12-9-19-32-38-44-x-33-17-16-x

We revisit this song with a different version. Shortly after the release of the hit TV series It's A Sin which highlighted the HIV pandemic of the 80s, Years & Years released their stunning cover of this Pet Shop Boys classic. This is the piano ballad version that was released before the remix with Elton John was released. I've got to say I haven't listened to this once since the collab with Elton, but it is still absolutely stunning and Olly sounds fantastic as always.

41. Kris Kross Amsterdam, Shaggy & Conor Maynard - Early In The Morning

Release Date: April 30, 2021 UK Chart Peak: DNC
Adam's Chart Run: (12 weeks) | Peak: 04 | 50-28-10-4-4-6-11-16-9-x-16-x-50-50-x

In an attempt to jump on the Sea-Shanty bandwagon, this trio came along with Early In The Morning. This of course is a sample of the old "drunken sailor" shanty and for the most part, it works really well. It's great to hear more of Conor Maynard again, I find it bizarre how he just randomly dropped off after five straight top 10 hits 10 years ago. Shaggy I never thought we'd still hear from in 2021 but here we are. This is a really good track and I recommend checking it out if you haven't already!

Adam's End Of Year Chart - Top 100 - 2021:

40. Sigala & Rita Ora - You for Me

Release Date: July 2, 2021 UK Chart Peak: 23
Adam's Chart Run: (8 weeks) | Peak: 07 | 35-7-46-41-35-20-27-32-x

Out of all of Rita Ora's collabs this year, You for Me is the best one. It was released at the perfect time, just before all restrictions were lifted and we hit the height of Summer. It sounded great around that time of year. Sigala is a bit hit and miss for me but they did a great job with this track. I'm glad Rita managed another top 40 hit after her reputation has gone downhill in the past year or so.

39. Becky Hill - My Heart Goes (La Di Da) (feat. Topic)

Release Date: August 24, 2021 UK Chart Peak: 11
Adam's Chart Run: (12 weeks) | Peak: 01 | 5-1-9-12-14-17-20-17-17-23-26-11

Another track from Becky Hill at #39 with My Heart Goes (La Di Da). The song is quite basic, let's be honest but I can't get enough of it still! It is just so infectious. It's a team up with another DJ (of course), this time with Topic. Topic has always released bops for me so it's no surprise I've loved My Heart Goes. Glad it made number one for me but it's criminal that it stalled at #11 officially for so long.

38. Demi Lovato - Melon Cake

Adam's Chart Run: (13 weeks) | Peak: 04 | 50-13-4-4-8-26-23-28-24-23-20-33-27-x

Melon Cake from Demi's 2021 album wasn't my first choice of song when I listened to the album for the first time. However, it grew and grew and grew on me and became my favourite song from the album. It's got a great chorus and the bridge sounds great. It's quite a basic song compared to their previous singles but I adore it.

37. Ivano Turco - Only You, Lonely You (from Andrew Lloyd Webber's Cinderella)

Release Date: December 11, 2020 UK Chart Peak: DNC
Adam's Chart Run: (6 weeks) | Peak: 03 | 10-3-3-4-29-x-36-x

Back to ALW's Cinderella at #37 with Only You, Lonely You. This is probably the biggest *moment* in the show and the song is spectacular with each chorus getting more powerful as the song progresses. As you can tell it's sung by the Prince in the show, who is played by Ivano Turco who has come straight from drama school into this lead role. A lot of eyes were on him to step up into a leading West End role but he does it with ease and is the perfect casting. A true talent.

36. Rita Ora - Bang Bang (Acoustic)

Adam's Chart Run: (13 weeks) | Peak: 03 | 31-12-3-6-9-28-30-32-35-32-x-24-23-16-x

The acoustic version of Bang Bang is absolutely stunning and you all need to hear it NOW. Rita Ora sounds absolutely fantastic on this, it's one of her best vocals. She's accompanied by a guitar and piano at the beginning and towards the end of the song it's a total orchestral masterpiece. It really is gorgeous to listen to.

Adam's Chart Run: (10 weeks) | Peak: 05 | 20-15-6-5-12-14-31-36-43-41-x

I have to say I totally forgot Higher existed since it left my chart. It's ok but really is nothing special. I feel like Clean Bandit are just on a downward spiral these days, nothing they release is catching my eye anymore. Nothing will ever top Rockabye for me. I do like the drop on this one though.

Adam's Chart Run: (13 weeks) | Peak: 02 | 33-11-3-2-6-7-20-46-42-36-30-49-x

Met Him Last Night deserved to smash and I am still fuming that Demi's management didn't push the single more. Imagine a live performance of this! Demi and Ariana's voices blend so well together on this track and it's a pretty decent song. As if it charted higher than the actual lead single oop.

33. Ariana Grande - positions

Release Date: October 30, 2020 UK Chart Peak: 01
Adam's Chart Run: (23 weeks) | Peak: 02 | 14-3-3-2-7-7-8-11-7-6-6-5-7-11-19-32-39-40-36-35-40-42-x-41-x

Ariana Grande's monster number 1 smash positions is up at #33. Originally I really wasn't fussed on this song hence the #14 entry but it quickly grew on me and was one of my favourite songs in Q4 of 2020. It was only blocked by the superior Sweet Melody otherwise it would have been #1 for me. Her diction is terrible in this song though and it's really hard to understand what she's singing in the chorus. It's not amongst Ariana's very best tracks but it did it's job well and has gone down as a big success.

I can't remember who, but I discovered this on somebody's personal chart earlier in 2021. I fell in love with it. The use of Edward Artemyev's Space Melody as a sample works really well and it stuck around on my chart for ages. Alan Walker being on the track always helps, he's had a great year this year. A proper bop.

Another track from evermore by Taylor Swift. This time willow is my #31 played song of 2021. It's gorgeous, she sounds gorgeous and the video is gorgeous too.
