I had been assuming DBE would get the #1 this time but actually forgot BLACKPINK's last album did as well as it did - both of them hit #2 with their last albums in 2020, BLACKPINK on 19.3k and DBE on 10.9k, although notably DBE's 2021 mixtape actually had a higher opening of 15.5k despite only entering at #6, defying the usual trend of 'mixtapes' typically having lower sales than 'albums'. I believe the new release is meant to be an 'album' but with the relatively muted success of the singles, especially the last 2, there's hope they might defy that trend again in the opposite direction

We are lucky in retrospect that Headie One held DBE off in 2020 as their album went on to have a much longer chart run (67 weeks in the top 100 compared to only 14 weeks for Headie).

6. The Amazons - How Will I Know If Heaven Will Find Me?

7. KT Tunstall - NUT

8. Kane Brown - Different Man

10. Manic Street Preachers - Know Your Enemy (Deluxe Edition)

16. Flogging Molly - Anthem

17. Oliver Sim - Hideous bast*rd

20. John Legend - LEGEND

Totally *Enormous Extinct *Dinosaurs :kink:

Kind of interested to see how Oliver Sim does, Jamie xx had a top 3 solo album but I kind of don't see Oliver retaining the xx fanbase in the same way - I continue to rot in anticipation for a new album by the group but I have been enjoying Oliver's solo singles too.

why is RW releasing this week? Would be much better to release closer to xmas...

this is like the perfect xmas gift, not something people buy in September

Perhaps they’ll push a new version of his Christmas album this year?

That being said, I’m very sure that his fanbase will buy it regardless of what month it is!

Well the album will still exist in winter... :P

Would love The Amazons to do well, fantastic singles off this release. Robbies will hopefully sell well. What do we think Ozzy Osbourne is likely to sell?

I've been predicting for some time that Rina will enter around #17 (but I know she's being quite aggressive with the multiformatting so who knows). Even that would be great for her after her last album didn't initially chart at all of course. I guess if Charli XCX could pull a #1 album out of thin air then Rina could do decently too, although probably only for one week.

Should be a #1 for BLACKPINK. Suede's last album got #6 in 2016 so top 5 should be achievable this time?

An early look, hopefully 5SOS will beat D-Block to the top. It’s a shame Sports Team have chosen a reasonably busy week, hopefully they can secure Top 5 at least.

1. Editors

2. Mark Owen

3. 5 Seconds of Summer

4. Kelsea Ballerini

6. Bond 25

9. Beth Orton

10. Vieux Farka Touré & Khruangbin

11. Billy Idol - EP

12. D-Block Europe

13. Kid Kapichi

16. Weezer - EP

18. Sports Team

19. The Wonder Years

22. The Rasmus

25. BAND-MAID

26. Sunny Sweeney

28. Alphaville & Dutchess Filmorchester Babelsberg

31. Abel Selaocoe

32. Sacha - EP

38. Maddie & Tae

39. Novelists FR

5SOS' last album did 34.9k first week, idk how much they are pushing the multiformats this time but I would assume that even with a bit of a dropoff they're going to be harder to beat than BLACKPINK were last week which makes DBE's album release date move feel a little odd!

Nice to see Editors taking the initial iTunes #1 though, been loving the first 3 singles from this era. Hope they should get top 5 this time (their last album in 2018 did 9.7k first week debuting at #6), similar sales to that could possibly get them their highest chart position since 2009? Their three albums since then peaked at #6, #5 and #6.

Would love to see Mark Owen get a top 5 this week
surprised Sports Team are so low :/

It was the same for their debut album! I can’t imagine their fanbase are big iTunes users.

but even lower than DBE?
