Norrie out to Rublev, but his second successive 4th round of a Slam so that's not bad.

Things looked dodgy for Swiatek earlier but she managed to come back from a set and a break down. Still think the women's winner will come from the Garcia/Gauff QF.

Rafael Nadal has been beaten in a Grand Slam for the first time in 2022, losing to Frances Tiafoe in the US Open fourth round.

American Tiafoe thrilled the home crowd with a 6-4 4-6 6-4 6-3 win over four-time champion Nadal in New York.

Alcaraz and Ruud now both have the opportunity to claim the #1 ranking without having to win in the final.

Think it'll be Nick vs. Carlos at the end

Fifth seed Ons Jabeur ended Ajla Tomljanovic's run to reach the US Open semi-finals for the first time.

The Tunisian, runner-up at Wimbledon in July, saw off Australia's Tomljanovic 6-4 7-6 (7-4) in a scrappy encounter.

Jabeur is the first African woman in the Open era to reach the last four in singles at Flushing Meadows.

oh surprised Kyrgios is out, never would have pinned Khachanov as semifinalist

really hate how all the best games are at night so we cannot watch in Europe :/

Well that's half of my prediction out, and Alcaraz trails Sinner in their head-to-head of previous matches :') Maybe Ruud can be the new #1, that would be hilarious tbh.

Ruud would be such a non-1 :o
oh my the Sinner-Alcaraz match, what a match! glad for Alcaraz!

Aryna Sabalenka says she used her ban from Wimbledon as motivation in her quest for Grand Slam success after reaching the US Open semi-finals.

Russian and Belarusian players, such as 24-year-old Sabalenka, were not allowed to play at Wimbledon this year because of Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

The world number six said she used the extra "pre-season" to work on her game.

"They took one opportunity from me, and I worked really hard for this one," she said after beating Karolina Pliskova.

Sabalenka, who beat Czech 22nd seed Pliskova 6-1 7-6 (7-4), will play Poland's world number one Iga Swiatek in the semi-finals.

Sometimes we can wake up in Europe and they're still going on :D Was thrilling to see Alcaraz save match point and go on to win, he's one of my favourites to watch outside of the Brits

Surely a brand new #1 is incoming now, if not a Tiafoe Vs Khachanov final would be WILD

Tunisia's Ons Jabeur reached her second successive Grand Slam final after a one-sided win over France's Caroline Garcia in the US Open semi-finals.

Fifth seed Jabeur, who lost to Elena Rybakina in the Wimbledon final, needed little over an hour to win 6-1 6-3.

Jabeur, 28, will meet Polish top seed Iga Swiatek or Belarusian sixth seed Aryna Sabalenka in Saturday's final.

Swiatek-Jabeur to the final yay

thought Caroline had a chance to beat Jabeur but judging from the score, she had no chance

So we've ended up with the opposite of last year, the top two seeds in the final (or what should be if Wimbledon counted for ranking points this year)
yes surprisingly these time the top women didn't disappoint but the top men did

yay Alcaraz-Ruud final

the winner also will be #1 on the ranking

Carlos is temporarily #1 so at least he can claim he's been #1 for 48 hours if he loses on Sunday :D

Iga Swiatek capped a dominant season by beating Tunisian fifth seed Ons Jabeur at the US Open to win her second major title of 2022.

Poland's Swiatek, 21, won 6-2 7-6 (7-5) to secure the season's final Grand Slam trophy on the New York hard courts.

After a one-sided first set, 28-year-old Jabeur settled midway through the second but it was not enough to stop Swiatek clinching a third major title.

Swiatek's previous two wins both came on the clay at the French Open.

Swiatek played very well, especially in the 1st, totally deserved
