Anthony Joshua says he is 'desperate' to beat Oleksandr Usyk in their heavyweight rematch on 20 August.

Usyk took Joshua's WBA (Super), IBF and WBO titles in September, but the Briton, 32, is "hungry" to become a three-time world champion.

The fight takes place at Jeddah Super Dome in Saudi Arabia and Joshua said: "Let me get in there and do my job.

"I'm not a comedian, I'm not someone who likes big speeches. I'm definitely hungry, definitely hungry."

Joshua won his one other rematch in his professional career, when he beat Andy Ruiz Jr on points in a 2019 contest, also staged in Saudi Arabia.

Promoter Eddie Hearn has defended the decision to stage Anthony Joshua's rematch with Oleksandr Usyk in Saudi Arabia in August.

The Gulf country has faced accusations of human rights violations and is paying huge sums to host the event.

Hearn responded to the criticism, saying: "My job is to provide the best opportunities for these fighters.

"But of course we want to see a better place, more change and hopefully this can promote that."

Joshua, 32, fought in Saudi Arabia in 2019 when he beat Andy Ruiz in their rematch and returns to the country once again for the fight on 20 August with his career at a crossroads.

Hearn promotes Joshua and was the first major UK promoter to stage a fight night in Saudi Arabia, but has not returned since.

Tyson Fury says his proposed heavyweight world-title fight with Anthony Joshua in December is off after his self-imposed deadline expired.

WBC champion Fury, 34, set an ultimatum of Monday for fellow Briton Joshua, 32.

Joshua's promoter Eddie Hearn responded by saying there was "no chance" the contract would be signed by then.

"Well guys, it's official. D-day has come and gone. It's gone past five o'clock, Monday. No contract has been signed," Fury said on Instagram.

"It's officially over for Joshua. He is now out in the cold with the wolfpack.

"Forget about it. Always knew you didn't have the minerals to fight the 'Gypsy king'.

"Regardless of what you say now, I don't really care. Good luck with your career, and your life. End of. Peace out."

The British Boxing Board of Control says Saturday's fight between Conor Benn and Chris Eubank Jr is "prohibited and not in the interests of boxing".

Benn, 26, has returned an "adverse analytical finding for trace amounts of a fertility drug", promoters have said.

They say he has not been suspended and is free to fight Eubank, 33, in London as his B sample has yet to be tested.

But British boxing's governing body has issued a statement that places the all-British fight in doubt.

The board said its decision not to sanction the fight was communicated to the boxers and promoters on Wednesday morning.

Benn's promoter Eddie Hearn, of Matchroom Boxing, said: "Both camps are prepared to proceed with the fight but ultimately the conversations have to be had with the teams, the lawyers and the British Boxing Board of Control.

"There is currently no reason in terms of suspensions or violations why the fight should not take place."
