January 16, 20223 yr Does this era need changing? I MAY have released Starstrukk or Paper Gangsta, but it wasn't necessary.
January 16, 20223 yr It wouldn't have done better than LoveGame and Paparazzi. They were already charting as album tracks in a number of countries before their official releases. Please Starstruck was the third best selling song on the album until she released LoveGame. Starstruck was even outselling LoveGame even after LoveGame was officially released as a single and its video came out, and that with 0 airplay and no video. That song should have been released after Poker Face and it would have destroyed charts around the world.
January 16, 20223 yr Starstruck is probably my favorite song on The Fame. Everything on this track is on point, pop excellence.
January 16, 20223 yr Not to mention that Flo Rida was literally giving Ke$ha a career at that very moment with the smash "Right Round". Starstruck would be a surefire, inescapable hit.

They were already charting as album tracks in a number of countries before their official releases.I remember looking at the popularity bars for The Fame on iTunes when it was released (in the US) and the two songs that were cherry picked that weren’t released beforehand were those two exactly, so it wasn’t a stretch that they became singles eventually.
January 16, 20223 yr No doubt about it, Starstruck would be bigger than Just Dance and as big as Poker Face. A massive hit, wasted like that, she and her label lost millions for being dumb, all they had to do was shoot a cool Just Dance-like video and send the song to the radio, this song begged to blow up on the charts. WRONG!!! It's no Alice or Gypsy, which really WERE wasted singles oops.
January 16, 20223 yr WRONG!!! It's no Alice or Gypsy, which really WERE wasted singles oops. Alice is 🔥 Gypsy is 💩
January 16, 20223 yr Author  Definitely have x (For the record: Gypsy really should've been ARTPOP lead single xx)
January 16, 20223 yr Author WE WILL GET TO HOW WE WOULD MANAGE ARTPOP ERA EVENTUALLY (omg that thread is gonna be a MESS)

They charted in the UK top 100 long before they were released as singles.LoveGame also entered the Hot 100 when the album was released. I don't think Starstruck charted? Maybe top 200 or bubbling under? 100% the right choices. And Starstruck would have absolutely not destroyed the charts like Poker Face. Are you having a laugh? :lol:Â
January 16, 20223 yr Author Tbf facts are facts that Paparazzi and Lovegame were doing business as album tracks when Poker Face was out so they were very clear choices! Â Starstruck could've been 5th single possibly but as I said earlier, the timing was there for Bad Romance which had an INCREDIBLE rollout and chart history so I wouldn't have changed that for risk of impacting on Bad Romance's eventual legacy!

Are you having a laugh? Fake, LoveGame only debuted on the Hot 100 a few weeks after its video came out, same in the UK. It had nothing to do with the album release. Following its release, "LoveGame" debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 at number 96 for the week ending March 21, 2009, but fell off the chart the following week. http://www.billboard.com/articles/news/269...high-on-hot-100 And yes, Starstruck was the best selling song on the album after Poker Face and Just Dance, even though it wasn't even a promotional single. It was Gaga's third song to reach the Top 100 on iTunes, till Gaga released LoveGame. Starstruck had sold over 150k when no other album track had even hit 100k yet in the US. LoveGame only started selling more than Starstruck 3 weeks after its video was released. Starstruck is also Gaga's best-selling album track to date, Platinum in the US with no airplay and no video, a massive hit that was thrown in the trash and that's not an opinion, it's a fact.

Yeah you're right about that. I see Starstruck did actually chart at 70 on Hot Digital Songs and made the Bubbling Under chart after The Fame's US release in November 2008. I think it was a different story in other countries like the UK though.  It sold 800k in the US by 2015 according to Billboard. A decent trickle seller from a huge album but then it was also out for 6 years by that point and had a Flo Rida feature https://www.billboard.com/articles/columns/...ng-songs-albums
January 17, 20223 yr It's also a fact it has the lyrics, groove slime, on ya back, work that track...

It just goes to show that the audience was there for the song but Gaga and her label had no market sense and ignored the most obvious option, which would be a huge smash if released after Poker Face instead of LoveGame (which underperformed compared to other 3 official singles from the album) as the third official single. That song would be as big as Poker Face, I have no doubt about that.
