Looking set to be the next big British drama, Trigger Point starring Vicky McClure begins tonight on ITV at 9pm! There’s another Line of Duty connection with Jed Mercurio producing, so high expectations are certainly rife!

 

Hmmmm I found this a bit boring, not a lot actually happened considering it was on for an hour. Basically just an hour of waiting for a bomb to inevitably go off and, given who wrote it, waiting to see which supposedly main character would die.

This was too slow paced for me, I was looking forward to this but it was a bit of a damp squib.

I enjoyed it, I thought there was good chemistry between the two leads but it was being set up

for one of them to die be killed off with all the close shaves and so when it happened it wasn't so much of a surprise.. more an expectation.

Contrary to what appears to be the general consensus, I’m enjoying this. Tense and an intriguing mystery that is emerging. I think perhaps the main problem is that it feels more like a second series? It’s as though there’s already been a first series establishing the world, characters, threat etc and, with that established, it’s returned with a big launch for it’s second series?

 

I am definitely intrigued but it feels that there needs to be more about the actual threat etc because at the moment it feels very Davina ‘fancy another one’, ’hey, want another one’. I know we’ll get to it, and there are underlying comments re the ‘English flag’ but it feels there needs to be a bit more focus on the actual aim/plan of the threat.

I'm sticking with this and generally agree with Klaus - there was not enough build up to care about the character who died in episode 1, it just fell flat as a result even though they did the best they could in one episode to build his character.

 

They definitely need to focus on the plot more and the development of the other characters - it feels too much like one set piece after another after another but we're finally getting towards the corruption (bent coppers and bent bomb defusers!!!) element that has been hinted at since the first episode.
