8 entries for the final of Vidbir, which is happening February 12th:

Alina Pash – «Тіні забутих предків»

Cloudless – «All be alright»

Kalush Orchestra – «Stefania»

Laud – “Head Under Water»

Michael Soul – «Demons»

Our Atlantic – «Моя Любов»

Roxolana – «GIRLZZZZ»

Wellboy – «Nozzy Bossy»

Some of the songs are out there. Cloudless took part in 2020, Laud took part in 2019, Michael Soul is a Belarusian refugee.

and fingers crossed that this final doesn't take place while Russian forces are besieging Kyiv

Two eliminated songs that have gone down well with fans:

LAUD was disqualified because his entry was released in 2018. He's been replaced by Barleben performing 'Hear My Words'.

Of the songs released so far, both of these would be very serviceable for a Ukrainian entry:

But this clip of Kalush Orchestra's entry sounds very promising.

I heard Kalush Orchestra and Alina Pash are having a drama?

sorta living for this hyped up nationalist nonsense (it's named after a famous Ukrainian film and at least the English lyrics seem to be directly asserting Ukrainian identity) - would be a very ballsy send. Would probably use its English title 'Shadows Of Forgotten Ancestors' at the contest to really drive it all home. Basically same vein as Jamala really.

Cloudless and Michael Soul have excellent ones though, the former some great rock and the latter a very interesting pop entry. One of those 3 please Ukraine.

My ratings:

1. GIRLZZZZ (9/10)

2. Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors (7/10)

3. Stefania (6/10) (Really didn't like the rap but the chorus is amazing)

4. Demons (6/10)

5. Моя любов (6/10)

6. All Be Alright (6/10)

7. Nozzy Bossy (6/10)

8. Hear My Words (4/10)

9. Head Under Water (4/10)

Overall rating: 6/10

Top 5 rating: 6.8/10

Eliminated songs:

Mavka (10/10)

Free Love (7/10)

Bomba (7/10)

all u need (6/10)

НЕЗАЛЕЖНА (6/10)

Вакцинація (5/10)

Crazy (5/10)

Satellite (4/10)

Missing:

Fizruk, Gorim!, Oyedamola, Schor, Shy, Skhidzakhid, The Blue Artic, The Tape Machine, Victoria Niro, Vika Yagych, Yuliia Timochko

I'm very unsure whether this is the best 8 songs amongst the submissions. Certainly, Mavka and Bomba are better than quite a lot of the songs here.

Alina Pash is the only one I knew about and she's pretty cool. With an eye-catching stage and stellar performance it's an easy Top 10 in the final.

Vidbir has just started, first of tonight's national finals. (status: awake for now, not gonna make it to the rest)

Go_A have reminded everyone why they're the best and

Putin's

making a guest appearance later.

Cloudless are on stage now and hoping they'll be alright. I like it but this live performance isn't as good as the studio version.

Unambiguously the best choice of the night. And right into the top of my rankings

First possible winner I think we've heard, as awkward as that might well end up being.

Apparently there is drama surrounding Alina Pash regarding her visiting Russia previously etc. which is controversial given the current state of affairs though she has defended herself. And then there is the feud between her and Kalush Orchestra regarding copying each other songs, with the latter also embroiled in controversy sending loads of ads on social media such as Telegram to ask the public to vote for them. Not sure how the entire situation will unfold. Mess.

And then there is the scoreboard malfunction which has led to several artists asking for transparency https://wiwibloggs.com/2022/02/13/ukraine-k...results/269633/

Press conference at 13:00 probably explaining the technical difficulties and eligibility of votes.

Also another news release: https://corp.suspilne.media/newsdetails/4762

In connection with the information received from citizens about the possible forgery of the certificate of crossing the state border with Crimea by Alina Pash, the Public Broadcaster appeals to the SBGS and asks to confirm or deny the fact of forgery of a civil service document.

There is a chance Alina Pash may not represent Ukraine should she be found guilty.
