Bré, this is quite far removed from anything they released as Sísí Ey. I've seen comparisons to First Aid Kit and Calm After The Storm (NL 2014) both which I think are somewhat fair.

 

But I think the lyrics to this song are hauntingly beautiful. I tried my best to translate them so that the metaphors hold the same meaning (instead of just a direct translation that doesn't really make sense) in order to showcase the beauty of this song. Knowing what they are singing about may potentially elevate the song for some, so here you go:

I'm not a fan of either First Aid Kit or The Common Linnets unfortunately! The one thing that does pique my interest is just the fact that it's in Icelandic which is always a pretty sounding language.

 

I am mildly tempted to listen to the song but I usually try to avoid hearing Eurovision songs before May as I like them to be fresh to my ears on the night. Having said that I did already hear 'Brividi' so I already broke that tradition once this year :thinking: (I should really listen to 'Turn This Around' at least now that I know it's not actually going to be in Eurovision!)

So the writer of the Icelandic entry (Lay Low) contacted me because she saw my English translation of "Með Hækkandi Sól" (posted earlier in this thread as well as on Reddit) and loved it. She and the girls apparently want to incorporate it (or maybe just parts of it, not sure) into the English version of their song?? :cheeseblock: Idk what exactly this means, I think they're still gonna be performing it in Icelandic in Turin, but they might post my lyrics on the app or something??

I’m not sure. I don’t know if they’ll release a version of the song using my lyrics in which case I think they have to give me a songwriting credit which would be absolutely insane. But I’ll probably know more in a week or so about what exactly this means. I’m honestly just so happy that they liked my lyrics.
