Second single of the reissue (May)

Strong feeling that she would have 5 #1s in a row with this album with this schedule.

BTW had already booked the top of the charts for itself when she sang a snippet of it at the 2010 VMAs, and TEOG would definitely hit the top if it had been the second single.

Hair: debuted at #12 even though it was just a promotional single without any push or promotion, another #1 as an official single.

Y&I: Even though it's been performed since 2010, this song managed the feat of hitting #6, which is insane. It would be another #1 if it was an unreleased song, even more so if they had sent the song to country and rock formats (it was a stupid thing they didn't).

FOHL: One of the most radio-friendly songs on the album, a big bet for the top of the charts as the album's last single.

The fact is that she overloaded her image too much by releasing Judas after BTW, she bombed an already bombed city, all other singles would benefit from better radio and gp reception if she hadn't messed up early on in the era. She should have focused on the charts by releasing something easy for gp to swallow like TEOG instead of wanting to shock everyone with every step she took at the time. Judas was definitely shot in the foot and I doubt she ever expected such a negative reaction to this song, she really thought it would be another Alejandro. Marry the night also shouldn't have been an official single, just a promotional one. Although I love its video, the song is noisy.

I do like 'Fashion of His Love', but I'm not as convinced it's single material. That chorus is rather clunky and hard to get your head around.

The lyrics are easy to memorize, the chorus is catchy and the bridges are solid. The final bridge and chorus are iconic. A reimagining of Whitney's IWDWS, a direct homage. There was nothing that could stop this song from being a hit.

Fashion of His Love is album filler at best imo. The digitally high pitched chorus really let's it down and makes it sound quite amateur and dated.

I don't think Hair is a guaranteed #1 either. It dropped like a stone after its promo single release and didn't have the warm reception The Edge of Glory had as a promo single.

FOHL is a retelling of Whitney's IWDWS which is her biggest song and the one that has stood the test of time the most, being popular to this day, so I bet my cards on Fashion of His Love.

And Hair didn't "dropped like a stone", it turns out that TEOG was sent to radio a week after its release and this softened its fall on the charts in the following week, unlike Hair which wasn't even sent to radio, and, like any promotional single, was doomed to spend only a single week on the charts, but that doesn't change the fact that its chart positions were incredible for a no-video, no-push promo single whatsoever.

Hair had the second biggest sales week of 2011 for a promotional single, only behind Taylor Swift's “If This Was a Movie.” The song definitely had the public's attention and it should have been an official single.

Fashion of His Love is in my bottom 3 of the album overall. I know that's personal opinion over "100% accurate chart stats" but I'd have about 14 songs above it as a single first :selena:

If you say so

My favourite Gaga album!

I think singles wise I’d probably not have released Judas (despite the video being huge)

I think I’d have gone with

1. Born This Way

PROMO: Hair

2. The Edge of Glory

PROMO: Americano

3. Scheibe (a summer smash, potentially risky but it balances out Edge and Marry the Night as I wouldn’t have released those consecutively. Release music video same day as the album and drop a live debut at the R1 big weekend)

4. Marry The Night

5. You and I (kinda like a P!nk Leave Me Alone type release. Tour montage cute video to close the era)

I’d have made the singles all Sunday releases (that was release day at the time wasnt it for singles?) So that they all got the full week for debut week. Even though we had three top ten hits we could’ve had an extra #1 with Born This Way and Edge of Glory and Judas could’ve peaked higher on a full week.

Fashion of His Love isn't on standard edition but it might have worked as a "re-release single" of a sort.

You can't trust a woman who put Heavy Metal Filler, Highway Unicorn and Americano on the standard version and left Fashion of His Love out.

Scheisse is single-worthy but Judas is not? That's....an opinion :P

To you -_-

Heavy Metal Lover >>>> Highway Unicorn >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Fashion of His Love > Americano

It's like saying that 911, Plastic Doll and Fun Tonight are all better than Alice. Fan faves never work.
