Tragedy probably works out about where I'd place it myself. It is a classic though and really was a huge moment for them and probably what non fans will always remember them for.

#9 Better best forgotten

 

Oh..some glorious, nostalgic cheese from our Steppers! It was impressive that it got to #2 (and selling that much) as single #5. It’s very Abba but that’s what I like about it. I had moments were I didn’t play it a lot but I’m totally in the BBF train again! The only letdown is the video for me, including that forced friendship between H and Lee. Still, that didn’t stop it from reaching a well deserved #9 in this countdown.

-‘Abba in the Steps version’.

Loved Better Best Forgotten from the moment I first played Step One. Was disappointed it hit skipped over here for a single.

#8 What the future holds

 

While TOTD was a glorious comeback, things got even better after that! Love the WTFH saga and this was the perfect way to start the era. An updated Steps without losing their signature sound. I think this one is one of their ‘coolest’ releases. And then the video..great :heart: And I’m happy we got to hear more of Lee on this one. The only thing that’s bugging me about this track is the fact that Lisa kept on going about the involvement of Sia :P Nonetheless, this track deserved a top 10 and it has the potential to climb even more in the future!

 

Why?

-An ‘updated’ Steps.

-The video.

-More Lee.

No idea why it wasn’t released here sadly. Up until that point they’d had three top 10 singles #1, #6 and #10). So it might’ve done ok, but in saying that nothing else from them reached the top 30.(except Thank ABBA For The Music). So maybe their label noticed popularity was dropping. Saying that I think they should’ve released Back To You or Love You More as a single here, that might’ve done alright. I guess that’s a topic for a different thread.

I’m kind of here nor there for What The Future Holds. I like it but I don’t love it. I prefer other singles since they came back, but there’s no denying it is a quality song.

Same - the quality of the material since their return has been so high that it makes WTFH seem weak around some of the other latest singles when it fact it’s an actual bop.

I was very tempted to give this the top spot. So James, be happy it ‘only’ got to #7 :P But all kidding aside, I really enjoy this one. The video is bright and tacky, just like the song. Glad Faye got a part on this song as she looks lovely and I enjoy her vocals. Shame it missed out on a #1 with this song but the success of Steptacular totally made up for it. For always a Steps classic imo :heart:

-Very colorful video and uplifting song.

-Faye looks and sounds great :heart:

-A bit tacky in the right kind of way!

Love One For Sorrow! I didn’t initially at the start as I thought it was way to Claire heavy. I’m not sure when it grew on me but it’s one of my favourites now.
