The Challenge: War Of The Worlds

As this Series is seperate from MTV and airing on CBS, and their respective series will air in their respective countries - thought it would be best to create a brand new topic.

This is not to be confused with Season 33 with the same title, and is also separate from Paramount+ Challenge: All Stars.

ViacomCBS announced Tuesday that, for the first time, a version of the hit MTV reality competition series will premiere on CBS this summer as part of a global two-part tournament. "Reality titans from the CBS universe will compete in the most unpredictable and demanding game of their lives. With an ever-changing game, players will be in a constant state of paranoia and unable to trust anyone but themselves," the description reads.

The CBS winner will advance to The Challenge: War of the Worlds, where they'll take on the champions of The Challenge: Argentina, The Challenge: Australia, The Challenge: U.K. on Paramount+.

The winner will be named the first Challenge world champion.

Airing:

The Challenge: US (CBS)

The Challenge: Argentina (Telefe)

The Challenge: Australia (Network 10)

and The Challenge: U.K. (Channel 5)

Very very early casting indicates that

Tiffany, Xavier, Kyland and Alyssa are all competing

.

Janelle from Big Brother was contacted and she turned it down.

The CBS/US Challenge airs July 6th along side Big Brother.

No cast announcement, but if you look hard enough you can find the full cast. I haven’t spoiled myself fully but by the ads on TV it seems this is exclusive to Big Brother/Survivor/Love Island contestants.

Overall I am so here for this cast, really seems like a perfect evolution for The Challenge in the post-Real World era. While I don't trust the algorithm to be entirely random, I think shaking up the pairs every week is a good way to keep things from getting stale, and/or keep BB or Survivor from steamrolling. We'll see if anyone finds a strategic loophole around this. Disappointed to see Cashel eliminated already, I was wanting to see how far he could go (assuming it would be a lot farther!).

I agree I reckon the algorithm will set a few teams up throughout. Although it’s a nice change rather than having the stronger teams constantly win.

Off to a great start, wow.

However I can’t help but think this cast is too big. We could have done without Love Island and Amazing Race.

Wow, old wounds cut deep. I love the connectivity with these relationships and previous BB/Survivor seasons. They’re taking big shots.

I just wish this show had nothing to do with Love Island or Amazing Race. They’ve hit a goldmine with this show, it’s a way for us to see all our CBS Reality TV heroes again.

Happy to see Alyssa outlasting all of the Cookout, for whatever that's worth, and Survivor and Amazing Race both avoiding elimination these past few weeks!

This season as a whole ended up being very good. Once the riff raff left, we were left with a very solid group of players. I’m sure CBS is glad they’ve added this franchise to their offering.

The girls rocked it this year as well. I see a lot of people were either Team Angela or Team Sarah. I’ll be honest, I didn’t really like Sarah OR Angela their previous shows, but I really enjoyed Angela this season. Sarah still annoyed me, but I appreciate her drive and talent.

I hope they do exactly what they do with MTV Challenges and make the cast recurring as much as possible. This show should be where CBS rivalries are tested.

Poor Ben, making all the way to the end and being cut last second. Poor Desi being eliminated 2 minutes into the final challenge because of Enzo.

Why exactly was Angela eliminated? Couldn’t she just have taken a loss on points? This final is going the complete opposite way I thought it would. EVERYONE QUITTING AT THE END. WHAT IS HAPPENING.

I definitely need CBS to make this a staple in their lineup, 2x a year like Survivor can suffice. The possibilities are endless, but I wish they’d drop the tie into Paramount+ and the broader “World Challenge” or whatever they’re trying to do.

That finale came very close to ruining what was otherwise a great season. I'm very happy for Danny and Sarah winning, but what exactly would've happened if they had quit too and nobody even finished? I get that the final has been this overly intense for several seasons now, and this one wasn't necessarily any harder other than the cold temperatures and snow at the end. I liked the points format much better than previous finals when they added up the times from all the legs (not sure if they've done this format for a final before, my memory sucks). But otherwise this was a disaster and needs to be a turning point to make the final more watchable and less of a near-death experience. Danny and Sarah earned it hands down, but it was so underwhelming to watch by that point, as if they had only won by default, I'd much rather see a final that everyone can finish.

That said, since Tyson was surely expected to win I did enjoy seeing him quit and lose :kink:

Not sure how to feel about the World Challenge, hasn't none of the other countries broadcast their seasons yet? By the time WOTW can finally start, any hype carrying over from the US season will probably be gone. I'll try to give it a chance though.

As this season will be played in a pairs format, each Challenge legend will be paired up with a global MVP from the non-flagship seasons (The Challenge: USA, The Challenge: Australia, The Challenge: Argentina, and The Challenge: UK). Pairs will battle to make it to the end, where the remaining teams compete for the $500,000 prize.

The Challenge: World Championship is set to premiere Wednesday, March 8 in the U.S. and Canada with two back-to-back episodes (the series will debut in the U.K., Latin America, and Australia on Thursday, March 9, and in Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Italy, and France on Wednesday, March 15). Additionally, MTV will air a one-time sneak preview of the new series with the premiere episode being shown in its entirety on Wednesday, March 8 at 8 p.m. ET/PT.

So this is separate from The Challenge: War Of The Worlds that was going to be on Paramount Plus? Or did they change the format to this one?

I got excited seeing the name "Kiki" on the list thinking it was Danny's wife

I’m not even sure anymore. This “World Championship” I always thought aligned more to the Paramount+ Series (given that The Challenge USA and Australia) were on Paramount+ (or CBS).

This is basically what they promised, but on MTV now.

This is in addition to All Stars 4, USA 2 and I guess the upcoming 39th challenge.

The Australian version was cancelled. The UK version has filmed, but hasn’t aired.

This just wrapped.. I binged the back half of the season last night. Eek, this season wasn’t good at all. I guess this is dead in the water considering UK and Australia was cancelled. I think over saturation and a lack of creativity is going to be The Challenges downfall.

We still have All-Stars 4, USA2 and MTV seasons to air this year.
