March 6, 20223 yr Roar was the biggest song WORLDWIDE in the WORLD. Thrift Shop was released MONTHS before Roar btw lewl. Check their sales and streams now ;) . It was so big that they had to purposefully release a misfire, Unconditionally, as it was still so so strong on radio, tv and the charts that it would clash with the next big hit, and wait till March for it to die down!!! Roar spawned Dark Horse, the biggest song of the NEXT year. Had they released Walking (On Air) and Legendary Lovers, Roar would have led into FOUR no.1s from the same album. Throw in Black Widow the Halloween after, FIVE, equalling Michael Jackson's record, but not her record of 6 no.1s from Teenage Dream. You are such a Johnny Come Lately fan that you weren't here for the actual eras. How tf do you expect me to find the old image of her with Gypsy on a promo board, when it was replaced as lead single within a week by shitty Applause?? You also don't realise how bad her image was at the time, with people screaming that she was ovee the rop, pretentious, arrogant, and up herself. She then released bloody APPLAUSE, with that artpop pretentious video, and it all just served as a self-parody. I cannot think of a worse song for her at that time than Applause!! It was honestly like a parosy. Art in THAT pretentious disgrace of a video?? What, in her being a swan, ooor what? GaGa herself said they rushed her to make a video in 2 days, and she wasn't happy with it. Accept it. It's not GaGa and it's not artistic. It's just shit. Here is a parody of GaGa's parody, Johnny Come Lately. You weren't around for it x Honestly, it's like you just E.T-ed your way out of an alien egg or something after crash landing in 2017. Roar definitely wasn't the biggest hit of 2013, neither in the US nor worldwide, it must have been in your house, but not in the real world. Also, stop talking about Katy Perry here, this is a Gaga forum and she has nothing to do with this thread, if you want to talk about Katy, she has a forum on that same site, go there and stop messing this thread. I don't expect you to prove anything because you won't be able to do that exactly because she never said that, that's why I asked you for some proof, because I knew you would come up with lame excuses to support your delusions. Also, the fact that I wasn't around during that time doesn't mean anything, I've been following every step Gaga takes since 2010. I know everything that happened and I know you're lying. Your opinions on Gaga's stuff don't interest me because I have my own. And as for those parodies, they're as dumb as Gypsy's lyrics or whoever thinks Gypsy would be a hit.
March 6, 20223 yr Correct!! But it was following the badly-received Born This Way and its awful single choices tbf. Here is the ONLY parody I can find that eviscerates Katy anywhere NEAR as much as the ones about Applause. X0bUwgTD-y4 You will note that vicious parodies only occur with CAREER-ENDING sangs. Bone Apple Teeth destroyed Katy Perry's career and she never recovered. Applause DESTROYED Lady GaGa's, bur, through sheer talent and determination - and luck, thanks to Bradley Cooper's support and him looking to remake a movie at the EXACT TIME Lady GaGa was over - she managed to get back, but she will NEEEVER be as big as she was pre-Applause. The wrong first or second single, if from a bad album, is enough to kill a career. Especially when it is like a self parody of your bad reputation, but not done in a humorous way! Applause and Bon Appetite did not sound anything like what people wanted from Katy Perry or GaGa, and people didn't recognise their faves in them, ans so it derrailed their careers, no matter what Adelita says about it being "very GaGa". (It's not x Quite the opposite, as the vicious reaction shows.)

Gypsy has beautiful and universal lyrics. Applause does not x Get an ear test, for cryin out loud!!! And the figures for the FULL YEAR, seeing as Roar came out late and the rest were all early in the year? ;) Also, Applause is intrinsically linked to the bigger and better hit, Roar, thanks to her pop emergency nonsense. Sorry bout it! Stop being jealous of Katy.
March 6, 20223 yr She could have even released a Spanish language version of the sang with Miguel on it. Could she do that with Usher, who was overexposed in 2013? Yeah, no. Omg just realised that you are EXACTLY like the parody of her fans in that video   "This song is better than Roar - yeah that's song's so dumb!" "You are better than Katy Perry - she had work done" And why would she do a Spanish version of that song with an anonymous? She isn't Latina and the Latin market has never been her or her label's focus. Usher, overexposed? He hit #9 with "Scream" in the US and had a total of 5 entries in 2012 alone, a year before the ARTPOP era, with a nearly 20-year career. Miguel has never and will never hit the US Top 10, while Usher is one of the biggest hitmakers in US history!
March 6, 20223 yr Also, this is one of my favourite songs. Very deep and meaningful, unlike Applause. Perhaps it's you who only likes shallow things? Isn't your favourite song ironically called Shallow??? eW8XoovSlsM Shallow is an amazing song, but it's not my fav Gaga song, stop putting words in my mouth. Also, are you implying that Shallow is a shallow song?
March 6, 20223 yr Author We are NOT coning for Shallow here  (save that for the ASIB #littlemanager thread )

Sorry bout it! Stop being jealous of Katy. Gypsy has lyrics for children or adults who refuse to grow up. Also, that doesn't matter and doesn't change the fact that Roar wasn't the biggest hit of 2013, and nothing can change that, accept it and that's it. And why would I be jealous of Katy? I'm a fan of a much bigger artist! ;)
March 7, 20223 yr I think Miguel would have been absolutely perfect for DWUW. I mean, obviously he's nothing now but I'd say in 2013 he was a name (and I'd dare say moreso than The Weeknd was at the time). Plus his voice is absolutely gorgeous.
